Now the car is over the 600 mile run in I thought I would try the launch control, fair bit of wheel spin and fighting the wheel but an impressive time. I'd imagine with a wider wheel, the time would come down some.
Also gave the car a clean for the first time to see how the Gtechniq EXO...
Weirdly the touchscreen has sorted itself out and is working again, it's still doing silly things mind like occasiaonally resetting itself and reloading the maps SD. It's also threw the Audio around the speakers. I think it needs a firmware update !
Cheers :) I'll be keeping the old gal, I'm unsure what direction to go down though - had the idea of going down the track route but I'm not sure I have the heart to gut it out !
After owning a PH1 172 for nearly 4 years and covering many miles, the old dog has finally been retired after just ticking over 120,000 miles.
I wanted something "fast" and special and after making a list of possible contenders, it came down to the Fiesta ST and the Trophy. For me the ST just...
It's possible to do the clutch by dropping the subframe, lowering the engine and pulling the box off. That said I wouldn't unless you can be without the car for a few days, subframe bolt retainers snap and cause the bolt to spin, lining up the box so the spline is a nightmare on your own.
Hi !
- When I testdrove the facelift I thought it was rather firm, I'm coming from a 172 with cup dampers and cooksport lowered springs so i was suprised at how firm, these also have hydralic bumpstops so despite being firmer - they should feel less crashy.
- Gearbox is a getrag 6DCT250 which is...
Cheers for the suggestion, what are they like for keeping the grit at bay ? I'm not sure if the falling apart is just how the hair based ones are, but they are very effective at keeping the crap away from the paint :)
What are people using for a Mitt at the moment ? I've had the sheepskin Mitt for around a year and the thing is just falling apart, I wouldn't say it's used that often either (https://www.shopnshine.co.uk/sheepskin-wash-mitt?___SID=U#details)
Cheers
Good to see the ph1 can still trade blows with the 200, although it's hard to tell if its standard and/or making the correct power after all these years.
Excited to have a play with the settings, I'll keep that in mind cheers ! Yeah the dealer did think it was a bit strange too, suspect it's because the cars been sat for days and not moved :)
I'm hoping so ! The garage found a new order that matches the spec I wanted (LY, Bose and exhaust) that ships from the factory mid April, he's going to let me know in the next few days if he's secured it. Saves me waiting until the end of June for one to be built :)
Indeed just popped into drive, was very pleasant pottering about, the jerking was gone after 5 minutes or so ! Then tried sport mode and finally race, tried shifting with the stick but to be honest, I think I preferred to let sport do it's thing and paddles to shift down. I was quite suprised...
Popped back into the Sunderland branch yesterday, paid the £500 deposit and they drove me down to Middlesbrough to test drive the car today - took me about 30 seconds to get used to the gearbox, I had concerns about the paddle feel when I sat in it last - after driving it I actually like them...
Happy to ! I would say My local branch in Sunderland was really helpful, they just didn't have a car in for me to test - I'll be popping back to them at the end of the week to see what they can do.
Tell me about it, 25k with the bits I wanted and I basically just got to sit in it, seemed very reluctant to put any miles on the one they had in so I do suspect even with a deposit, the test drive would be down the road and back. Form what I've heard you can just walk into ford and drive an ST...
Tried to testdrive one of these yesterday, wouldn't let me near it until I'd placed a sizeable deposit. Gutting thing is I genuinely want to buy one, but reluctant to hand any cash over before atleast seeing how it drives given the reviews. I did get the sit in it though, special car, paddles...
It won't set the world alight, but you do get a slight increase in induction noise (Negligible) and the ability to wash and reuse it.
If either of those point's tick a box, I'd say it's worth it.
Agreed it does seem a stretch from 220 to 300, however we know this is a MR16DDT Nissan lump which is shared with the juke - Renault went with a slightly bigger turbo for the 220, according to this bloke the OEM turbo "Will max out around 20psi or just under 300" so perhaps it's possible !
