Gotta remember if you get 30mm springs on the front and 30mm on the back .. thats not taking into account the weight difference from front to rear.. In the front you have the engine and transmission.. in the back.. theres hardly any weight.
I plan to lower mine by 40mm on the front and 45-50...

It's not the weight that affects the speed, IIRC its the diameter. Also the tyre profile affects the speedo but a small ammount.

the most common fault for them cutting out and refusing to start is athe TDC sensors.. Although it sounds more like an MFU style relay is at fault.

Most garages won't touch torsion bars, especialy lowering them, for reasons just like this..
Your best bet is a renault breakers yard and get the whole rear beam. Give that to the garage and ask them to fit it and lower it at the same time.. its easier getting the siezed parts out ona bench...
