Cheers guys. It's not that there is oil in the upstand, it's narrowing it down to where the oily muck on the cam cover is coming from.
@NorthloopCup what do you mean by "flare plate"?
@Dan@SJM it's not blowing out, there's just always seemed to be a small amount of oily crap appearing. Drives me mad as it have to keep wiping it off when I have the inlet off for whatever reason.
Is there a reason the breather plates with the SM inlets have a take off on them?
@NorthloopCup
@NorthloopCup under the breather plate is some loctite instant gasket that was mentioned to use - decent sized bead under there. Will this have been much better off with the Renault gasket? I will whip the inlet off and have a look at the weekend.
My thinking was that the vapour travelling out...
I have replaced the vvt solenoid seal as well, that was one of the first things I did.
@NorthloopCup By seal under the inlet manifold do you mean the O-ring type rubber? I haven't changed this if so.
Am I right in thinking if the upstand into the inlet is blanked off, it will mean that there are...
So I have a constant issue with oil appearing on the top of the cam cover. I've tried all the suggested fixes on here (cam cover bolts out and add a bit of instant gasket to them & tighten back up, instant gasket under the breather plate). Still occurs. so I can only think that its escaping via...
Basically want to be able to play games & watch films with sound.
Judging by what you're saying I guess the projector needed would need to be a hell of a lot better than what I have?
Any examples of speakers that would work would be appreciated. If I am needing to get an amp, then I think...
What thread size is required for where the lower standard seat belts mount into the side of the car?
I've got some 3/8" eye bolts, but not sure if they are correct?
My handbrake cable was a bit of a PITA to get out, its the most awkward bit about it tbh. I ended up using a centre punch to dislodge the end of the cable (tap it at the top, 12 o'clock. Move around the sides if needs be). Then use a pair of grips/pliers on the swing arm, twist it and the cable...
Castrol magnetic 5w40 fully synth iirc (gold bottle), changed approx every 6months
It's always been tappy, desphaser is a little noises but that's about due another change
Engine is quite tappy at the moment, thinking of putting some of the Wynns treatment fluid in to see if it helps.
Anyone used it? Was planning on putting it before next oil change
Stuff in question...
Don't use the Euro Car Parts one if you want to fit the standard fan back on.
The casing/pressings on the ECP rad are slightly wider and the Renault fan unit fouls the lower rad hose. I bought a slim line fan from McGill Motorsport to counter the issue - works fine now
Just make sure the arm that holds the cable looks like solid round bar bent at 90*. I recently bought an item that had more of a flat cast looking arm. Turned out to be a crappy copy job
True about the icons, we even looked at switching to SolidEdge.
I design stillages for various companies/oem's.
With the shifter assembly in mind, plans for any other bespoke items?
Dogging
It was a note on a report that the local garage did when they sorted out my duff rear calliper. Maybe he just meant they looked old, I haven't had a look myself yet though
