Sold this car today to a good friend to run as a winter car :(
Its been a brilliant little track car to me over this summer after rebuilding basically the whole car earlier in the year, it will be going back to standard this week with a few little bits left on so it he can enjoyed like they...
Ah well your stuffed then ;)
There is allen bolts on the later ones body's that tighten it around the ball, the rattling will be something loose/worn unless you have set it up actually touching something underneath the car, did you do the brash bushes?
If you want it stiffer Marc just tighten it up, that's the benefit of it. Something will be loose or the ball or stiff shift will be rattling in the plastic podium.
Looks good for its age, no signs of rust from the pics.
Its screaming out for some type of splitter though, bumper higher than the sills is never a good look.
I'm pretty sure they are sided on the fronts, maybe not though.
I thought you were away to order new shocks but I mis read, you already have the shocks, your just needing conformation if their sided.
No offense but someone who knows what they're doing needs to look at it tbh, that can only be caused by crazy camber (very unlikely) or the tracking moving around because of a worn bush, that latter will be totally obvious when driving it. Steering wheel will be off centre on the straight ahead...
Re: Clio Spec
Sounds exactly like a guys car on here, can't remember his name now, something Carl iirc. If it is that car Its like a valver bonnet scoop on it and isn't the worst tbh, goes with the theme. Paint was done to a high standard to iirc, all door shuts etc.
Ian speedy has some pics in his progress thread from a good while back, he wrecked one on a rally and bought another. It turned out it was different to the other side, it was the squarish bit at the back where people are bolting spacers that was thicker/thinner. Other than that it was identical...
Seriously though if you do decide to sell up and its the kit that went on eBay last week, You know where i am. Do you plan on doing a full stripped out car as that is basically a race loom and nothing will work as standard.
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Gathered that mate, I would just move them forward a bit to stop rain going on the filter while stationery. Also there won't be a clio bumper in the land soon without holes in it haha, all adds to the 'look'
Did they wrap your roof vent? If so that must...
Oh I'm not comparing them to Willwoods or any copy kit of the £600-£700 price bracket, there not on the radar for above reasons plus others hence going to all this bother for something different without paying 2k.
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Top part mostly as a seal under bolthead, don't be shy it won't do any harm unless you get loads under the end of the threaded part as there's a slim chance it could hydro lock.
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
That does look like its coming up the threads as mark said mate, the seal seems dry? Remove that bolt, cover it in silicone and refit it if your seal gives no joy. Save you taking the woke cover off.
Liking the bonnet, may have to copy it around the ITB...
There like cheese the rear beams so all the printouts I have seen differ all the time, most 172 cups I have seen have more than 172's, I have noticed that as I have an interest in them.
I'm pretty sure the 182's (not sure if cup etc) have the thickest stub axle so widest track fundamentally...
Yes, yes and yes.
The differences between the cup and cup packed relates to the interior spec afaik and also the splitter as there were two cup add ons available separately afaik, I don't tend to listen to the interior styling bits as it doesn't interest me much tbh.
Going to waffle on here.
182 cups have different bolt spacing (60mm iirc) on the hub to strut fixing, everything else shares the same size( iirc 54mm)
All 172 cups came with the extra caster wishbones, some of the later model 1*2's came with them also but its a lottery.
Cup front shocks are...
Massive bells with a small swept area disc would be the ideal to keep the size you want although I'm not sure if the disc diameter would be small enough to work with off the shelf rotors.
I was finding before when I tried with oz f1's and 2118's, they both have the same problem. The wheel was...
I have noticed the swept area on larger rotors gets smaller as diameter goes up on most, its not continual thing but if you choose the right rotor it will actually have more pad contact area than a few sizes above, the leverage gets smaller I know but it would be swings and roundabouts for a...
Crazy the size difference.
You can see in the second picture they have been machined on the 'plaque' face it seems for clearance. Was they from a twingo rally car?
