New Valeo coilpack fitted today. All leads checked and cleaned with contact cleaner. Not the most exciting update but it should cure the hesitating and cutting out. Car idling fine anyway.
New coil pack ordered from RPD and they’ve also confirmed that OEM leads are no longer available or in stock sadly.
That’s a wet afternoon later this week sorted then. Really appreciate all the help guys - many thanks 👍👍
Gotcha. I’ll check leads for anything trapped (belts were done recently so I’d expect the specialist not to have caught anything) and there was a spark when a lead was removed from the coil. For the sake of £60 I’ll get a new coilpack as it’s an easy fix even for me. Cheers 👍
Thanks James. Are there any telltale signs that the coil itself has failed? Sorry for the questions - I’m OK at polishing bits nobody can see but not so proficient under the bonnet!
I think they’re part of the cause of my mishap at the weekend. The car spluttered and died, weirdly and luckily for me an old mate based a mile or so from where I was came out and had a look. Wiggled the leads and the power lead into the coil and she fired up and drove fine for 70+ miles home...
Searched but no joy.
Looking for OEM leads but it sounds like they’re NL. If this is the case, what do people recommend for replacement? Car is standard.
RPD show a Valeo coilpack as being the only available replacement. Again, is this the suggested best replacement as it can be found cheaper...
Thanks mate.
We had a bit of a giggle as we both expected the 182 to break. He’s had a few issues since he bought it and it ran smooth as today. Highlight was me saying “it’s broken” over the walkie talkie - proper TG moment 😂
Road trip up to The Classic Motor Hub in Gloucestershire today with my pal’s 182. Had some fun avoiding main roads and for anyone less than impressed with other car venues in that part of the world, it’s well worth the trip out. Eclectic stock for sale and an even wider selection of cars and...
Screwfix budget range floor paint and Halfords floor tiles at the back where my bench is. Door insulation was off Amazon. I generally repaint the floor every 5-6 years or so and I use spare rubber tiles for jacking etc.
Car sits on 4 carpet tiles and I’ve added a wide rubber mat across the...
Thanks! Almost where I want it to be - still some more stuff to do underneath but that can wait for now.
Iceberg Cup - nice! Look forward to seeing some pics 👍
New screen coated with G1, new blades fitted - now 21” for both - no idea why I’ve always used a shorter one on the passenger side before as it looks crap and doesn’t clear properly. Half price with the trusty Halfords trade card.
Cheeky photos with my mate’s recently acquired 182 today. He’d...
New windscreen fitted today. Been putting this off but managed to pick up a big chip a fortnight ago so bit the bullet.
Made me realise how completely buggered the old screen was. I bought a screen trim kit years ago when RPD had them on offer so that was fitted at the same time.
Changed the...
COVID hasn’t helped C&M as usually the variety and quantity of metal there is second to none. Never had an issue with food either (3 or 4 times) but there’s even less of an excuse for any food serving venue to mess things up with fewer covers.
My first trip back up after they reopened was...
