A tweaked 1*2 will be more unreliable and will cost more in the long run, its also an older car which is something to bare in mind. Personally Id stick with the 197.
Go for something MSA/FIA approved, that way you know it will be up to the job and been designed properly. Bolt-in cages are easy to install and generally cheaper to buy and fit. Weld-in cages are more serious but will also help stiffen the car as they can be welded to the pillars and strut tops...
