I was only asking out of curiousity lol - I run KW V2's now and seem to have corrected most of the understeer by tweaking the damping rates
Also - I don't use my car on the road, and I don't use it competitively, so neither a slight loss in straight line speed or tyre scrub on the road would...
I must admit the standard brakes were fine up until I started trail braking - I guess that does add quite a bit of heat to the mix
Even saying they were "fine" though - the wilwood kit allows braking MUCH later, which is always fun on track when people think they've got along side you then...
Interesting - how much do you call a massive amount?
It really frustrated me as I'd say all of the extra power I got from the ITB's was wasted on track as I was always trying to stop the front end going wide :(
If bought new I agree as £1200 is insane, but for £600 it's not bad value for money
And yes there are a lot of scare stories about wilwoods flexing and bending etc.. but at the end of the day its a 1ton french hatch back - it doesn't take much stopping lol
I could have gone down the route of...
Completely agree - B14's (You've got my old set haven't you) were lovely on the road and for some B road thrashes, actually softer than the eibach springs I had before them - but on track they were way too soft and the lack of adjustability frustrated me
I have KW V2's now with koni coilovers...
Not yet but I have ermmm been out on some ermmm private tracks and given them absolute hell lol - they are much better at getting rid of the heat, you can tell just by the lack of smoke pooring off the alloys I used to get.
Also comparing a car with different suspension, different tyres, 30bhp...
Discs are 12mm bigger than standard
100% is probably an exaggeration but they offer a significant increase in stopping power - and there was nothing wrong with my standard brakes, they lasted me well for a year of track abuse but the heat meant after a 30-40minute session they were dead :(...
Oh yeah and I run racing blue fluid - no ABS, the wheels were so hot the paint was nearly falling off at Donington and the fluid boiled
Can rag the wilwoods all day long and they still stop brilliantly.
Ahhhhh my favourite "attracts stupid responses" topic on CS - do you need better brakes?
I've got Clart's old kit - it's astounding. The car will stop on a dot. I had DS2500's, brembo HC's, braided lines and cooling from front bumper - completely cooked that setup in 2hours at Donington. I...
I don't think "all the refinements" can be defined as a full rear coilover. There's so many differences in build quality and spring rates.
My bilsteins were technically a very similar price and spec to the KW's i've now got - but build quality is a hell of a lot better on the KW's and the...
Hrmmm one is a compressed length and the other isn't but you might be right
The 182 with the 2piece shaft overall length is the same as the 1 piece though - they're swappable. A few people have put the 182 2 piece shaft on 172 turbos as it helps eliminate torque steer
I don't believe those hole pictures on the subframes move the wishbones out - it just looks like one subframe has more spare metal past the hole. Without measuring the distance from hole to hole across the subframe you can't be sure
If the holes really did move the wishbone in and out then...
The 182 CUP hub is completely bespoke to the rest of the 1*2 range - it has a bigger bearing and different bolt spacing - so making it slightly wider for a better track on the 182 cup would be simple enough. If you think about it making the hub poke the wheel out a bit further is logical as then...
I've answered this a few times now - did a LOT of research on it when I was looking at putting 182 hubs onto my 172 cup
You can fit 172 cup hubs - the track rods are the same length, the driveshafts are the same length and fitment, the wishbones are the same. There's nothing else needed -...
Would it not be easier to just look behind the ECU and see if their's an ABS block? ;)
I know some had air-con - but combined with the rest of the stuff and the wrong year, it definitely aint a cup
Who the hell retro-fits headlight washer jets? lol
