Twice 205 owner here so not bashing Peugeot at all BUT after the 106 Rallye they haven't made a good one until the 208. Hence my timeframe of 20-ish years
Can't comment on Honda as I only drove a Type R once and wondered where all the grunt was lol.
Ford - I agree with both of the above...
Happy to help. I have DA and rotary machines, over 15 years' experience in messing about with swirls and enough polish to keep a polish fetishist happy. PM me if you're interested :)
Sure is and I had a ride in it the day it passed its first MOT. In the wet, in rush hour traffic. Perks of the job ;)
Back OT, I like what Renault have showcased here and if some of the features trickle through to larger production models then that's good too. £40k for any hot hatch is steep IMO...
Pretty easy TBH - hardest part was removal without breaking any clips etc.
Thoroughly cleaned using an APC. Then a light key with wet & dry. Then a degreaser (I used a cleaner I use after polishing - seems to work).
Mist coat of either plastic primer or in my case bumper paint as more flexible...
Lower grille and fog surrounds given a lock of paint today. Trim dressing was never going to match lol.
And here's a question - I snipped a pair of cables ties when I took the bumper off. They were in the middle and securing the bumper onto (I think) the subframe. Should there be a more...
Yep, G1 is (for me at least) as good as it'll get. Piece of cake to apply too.
Here's how mine turned out after wet flatting and multiple grades of polishing.
More little steps. CF blanks on and upper grille painted satin black. New front plate on too. Calipers next.
And foglights reconnected - they hadn't worked since I got the car. Simple (and free!) fixes make me a happy boy.
So I snapped the sensor despite being (I thought!) as delicate as someone with gorilla hands can be.
Bought a replacement from ECP and the sensor seems too small for the hole in the inlet. It's the only one they list for the 172 so any ideas as to how I can get the fecker to fit?? New vs old...
Small steps. Nasty yellow inlet manifold is gone. Tit of a job after the replacement manifold was missing the connector for the servo vacuum hose.
Gave the Colourlock products a run out too on my seats and finished with a quick wash and Zaino Z8.
Still a long way to go!
Cleaned with brake cleaner and a brush, left to air dry and then painted straight on with VHT aluminium. Mist coat then 2 wet coats. Lettering was done with Humbrol enamel and it'll get a couple of coats of VHT clear.
Proper detail work underway. I wanted something slightly different as pretty much everything I've done so far is pretty unoriginal lol.
I'm pretty chuffed with this. Couple of coats of VHT clear to finish this and cambelt cover/mount and fuel rail guard to paint silver and I can fit them at the...
Silvertecs bought and fitted, replaced OS arch liner and fitted ABS sensor cable brackets on the hub.
Sportlines are settling nicely so next is ARB bushes, dog bone and gearbox mount plus an oil service.
Pearl black corrected yesterday. In 25 plus degrees. Tired today lol.
Rupes UHS via green Rupes pad on the 21mm Cotech DA; too much vibration for me personally and feeling it today :(
Zaino AIO / Z8 to finish.
Long day today.
Graham (iyrix) came over and while I gave his black pearl 172 some detailing love he fitted my springs, shocks, discs, pads, top mounts and top engine mount. Legend.
The car is like night & day. The front pads were beyond f***ed, one of the top mount bearings disintegrated on...
First proper blast last night. Hungerford to Swindon across the Downs. And even with tired brakes and suspension I smiled all the way.
Result today. Brand new non-RS centre caps found for £15 on the bay and the diamonds fit my Turini centre caps. Coat of c5 and ready to fit.
Tomorrow's a big...
