Think I have the excuse for a new exhaust too as mine managed to almost lose the bolts between cat and centre section. Mrs coops has been told that a new system is necessary...
Up & down day yesterday. Replacement alternator picked up earlier so halfway to sorted :)
Steve, the head unit is radio and iPod/phone only, no cd function. Works fine for me and sound quality is night and day better too.
Gave her a wash and tucked her away. Just because she's poorly she needn't be filthy lol. Cleaned more bits nobody will ever see too...
Secondhand alternator sourced too so smiling again :)
Not feeling it today. This was always a cheap fun car and a dead alternator might just kill it off - I can't do it myself and a garage bill isn't in the budget.
Only started a few days ago. Got worse today - smell is a combination of boiling coolant (it isn't - bottle full and no leaks) and burning rubber.
I also have a whining noise which rises and falls with revs.
Alternator??
Few bits done today.
- new boot carpet
- replaced side lights and mains with led and rainbow bulbs (not sure about the mains but at least the nasty yellow bulbs are in the bin)
- replaced head unit with a £37 Pioneer and while basic it works fine and I can listen to my old fart music.
I drive around the block after drying - usually gets rid of most of the water left standing.
My Octavia is a different matter as the mirrors still hold water 24 hours and more after washing!!
Back at clean and shiny helping with an M3 repainted in solid black and rather destroyed...
Still some marks to chase out and refining before coating but a reasonable improvement.
