Good point mate, use v-power, gives better fuel economy by a fair bit. Second best is bp ultimate if you cant get v-power. Used to travel on the motorway daily, and saw huge differences in fuel economy using different fuels.

Agree with marks post. Do 70-80 in 5th, stay smooth, and you should see 40mpg in a 172. Ensure you check your tyre pressures etc beforehand too.

Hard to say what a prospeed sounds like, as they're custom made. Charlie is a wizard with exhausts though, if you tell him how you want it to sound, he'll make it sound like that!

Could just be the cable needs adjusting/ replacing mate. Go for a drive, put it into 4th gear at 30mph, and put accelerator to floor. If clutch is on its way out, it should slip (engine will hit rev limiter, but you'll go nowhere)
