Some lovely photos there mate
I've only had time to edit one so far - hoping to get the rest up this week
Week 6 - Wyedean Rally by Phil_Barker, on Flickr
70-200mm f4L is superb for track work - you can pick them up for £400 on ebay
The 28-135mm is a VERY old lens - I had one for about 3 weeks and it was shite :(
If I were you I'd grab a second hand 70-200 f4L and a 18-55mm IS kit lens
That'll keep you going
The 18-55 is actually quite a nice...
Correct. What I think he was trying to say, as I've explained, is the parts of the MOT that are left to testers discretion (ie. has an airbag been removed, are all the lights working that are supposed to be) they were a little bit more flexible with as I don't use the car every day
It's just...
Fixed buckets. All airbags removed. Harnesses.
Its the same test it's just that he said the bits where it's left to the testers discretion he would be a bit
more lenient as its not a daily drive. :) top bloke really
Walsall - they were alright. Bit chavvy but the welding is spot on
Well it's hardly a fair test as I'm running ITB's, omex and 182 manifold with a custom decat - it's not quite standard lol
Anyway...
MOT DAY
Hate this day - been in a mad panic for weeks trying to find a friendly MOT'er to...
I know a lot of people on here are worrying about the new MOT laws and how it affects track cars
Well I've just had mine done and it passed!
I know I can only speak relative to the MOT'er who did my work - but basically my car is running ITB's, a Group N Exhaust with 200cell sports cat, Omex...
The USB ones are shite
If you're using a laptop it should have a PCMCI slot - I bought a PCMCI to serial card for about £20 - they act EXACTLY like a serial port - you can set the baud rate, parity - everything
Works perfectly with my Omex 600 :)
10 is probably the best photo - I would have liked it more if it was tripod'd and less digital noise but still a lovely photo
Love 14 too but it looks a little too "setup" to be a street shot
Well said haha
Harpham - you big panzy. It's on mine now with a sports cat and knocking out 102db at 5000rpm! hahahah
Went to Birmingham and back in it yesterday and my ears are still ringing!! fooooook
I'm in the same boat - there's over an inch settled here in Lincoln - 200bhp, throttle bodies, FWD, knackered track day tyres + snow... not my idea of fun!
Yeah he finally rang me this morning and sent me an email - bit gutted cos he quoted £40 less than it cost me and without a trip to Birmingham :(
But he wouldn't answer his phone for 3 days and I needed it sorting... oh well
LOL they did come across as a bit rough - but to be honest the bloke doing the welding asked me exactly what I wanted - understood the wideband needed to be pre-cat and everything and the welds look nice - at least it's done for the MOT and a lot less than the £340+ k-tec wanted for a sports cat...
Yeah I have
Hated the exhaust sticking out mate - looked horrid lol
Also when I shut the garage door it hit the exhaust. You could have carried someone stood on it LOL
It's turning out to be a proper pain in the arse - too loud for track days and with a 52mm internal diameter no-one makes a...
Well this week has been lots of ups and downs
I swapped my K-Tec stealth and a bit of cash for an Oreca Group N system
Light isn't the word!!! The entire system weighs less than the center pipe of the K-Tec. So I'm pretty chuffed about that
Shocking fit though - stuck out about 4" from the back...
I THINK it's m16x2 - but I can't be sure
They are 100% the same as proper tow hitch bolts though
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Towball-Bolts-High-Tensile-x-2-M16-50mm-Washer-Nut-/110770389354?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Touring_Travel&hash=item19ca6e016a#ht_500wt_917
That will work perfectly - or like I...
I wouldn't file it - it's hardened steel
If you've got a dremel that's easier - otherwise get a 16mm drill and put the bracket in a vice and drill it out
The plate on the tow strap has a hole in it but it's too small - you have to enlarge it by about 2mm
Then you get a bolt that fits the standard towing eye hole on the car and bolt it on
I bought the bolt from a local tow center as it's the same bolt that you use on tow bars for trailers apparently
I've found a magnaflow dealer in Grantham now and talking to them about making me a proper sports cat up, identical length and fittings to my link pipe - so should be able to switch between them
Will post pics up when I get something sorted
It still shouldn't be requiring the air from that pipe to keep the engine ticking over
I think you've got a bigger problem than a clicking carbon canister.
I've just formulated a bit of a plan
The length of the decat pipe is 13" - I can get a magnaflow 200cell sports cat for £75 (8" long), the flanges are £15, and a bit of stainless pipe is about £20. Also need a lambda boss which is about £5
So £115 in parts - find someone who can weld stainless...
Cheers guys
I've got a 172 cat in the garage and I've got a spare link pipe with the right flanges on - so I'll see if I can chop it up and weld it to fit :)
