Lol. The only other cars I will be getting will be 1/10th scale as they take up less space.
If i was to have that escort it would need a proper garage to keep it in. And i dont have the space.
Bit of an update.
As i was fed up with having the car stuck on the drive with a broken diff, i decided to send it too @bloke to have it sorted.
He pulled the box out and sent the diff back to Gripper to be repaired with a new revised material stub/output shaft and a rebuild.
Bloke also checked...
Oh my god!!! What a waste.
We know from other threads on here that mental health issues can certainly play havoc with your thinking.
That is such a shame.☹
Nice collection. But wtf is that exhaust on the 172 cup??!!! I would rip that off on the first white/rough selective. Get a nice stealth exhaust on there tucked up nice and high.
Yes i bought it from Shogun. Im happy with it, just have to wait until August to get it mapped.
I did look at the other one too but this one was worth spending the extra on.
Other would have needed a bit spending on it for my liking such as tyres (it had fairly new budgets on it. Not my thing)...
I have finally got one. I have already messaged Chris at EFi to get it mapped as the flat spot is so annoying. Drives nice otherwise. I might take some more better pictures sometime.
Anyone want a cheap, diesel vectra?
As the rally car is hopefully getting an mot tomorrow and taxed on saturday i will check the diary to make sure the kids aint doing something and try to get down to this.
I used an LED light bar and a pair of gas discharge spot lamps for the isle of man and it was a great setup. LED gives a good flood and the spots gave the distance and headlamps do inbetween.
I am currently looking at getting a new toy. The vectra is about to need a bit of work and as it was written off 18 months ago, i cant be bothered. I dont need a car for work as i cycle to work now and we have a Kia carens for the family days out.
Should i buy a 197 or cheap 200?
It would be...
Yes mine has the Gripper lower cwp and plate diff.
It is currently with @bloke having the gearbox checked over and diff refitted after being back to Gripper to have the snapped output shaft replaced.
As my Manx rally codriver lives on Mull it would have been great to do it with him but i didn't have the budget to do it when it was last run.
The car will be up for sale soon so its unlikely that I will ever be able to do it.
The main reason my original studs sheared was because i didnt have the correct spigot rings in, but i replaced them with the A I Tech ones and copper coated nuts (not cheap).
As for the driveshafts, the one i broke was my own stupid fault at Weeton as i slid off into the undergrowth and I was...
I did charity rides in my rally car a couple of years ago and they had a booster seat there that sat perfectly in my bucket seats so there are some out there.
I've snapped 1 shaft but my own fault. Slid off the stage into the grass and was flooring it as it came back onto the tarmac so snapped the drivers shaft.
Other retirement was due to snapping the output shaft on diff which is being replaced for the new better material version.
Other than that...
All these first cars are far too good. You need to have a really s**t car as a first car.
I give you the Talbot Horizon......not my actual car but very similar. Mine was a darker blue.
My mum had it for years then I had it 9 months. 15k miles, 2 engines, 2 headgaskets, 1 gearbox, front torsion...
