Looks ok tbh. I am at EFI 2 weeks before you for my mapping session. If you ever need anything measuring off a 133 let me know as I am more than happy to help you out if you need it.
Best setup I would think would be to get it corner weighted as there is probably a good chunk of extra weight at the front now. Somewhere like avo, bilstein ect would be able to advise on spring rates for the front. I think rears will be pretty similar to standard. I am not quite sure what to do...
It's going purely down to money unfortunately. I am now doing 450 miles a week and only getting 37mpg. I have been given a deisel yaris to use for now saving on tax and fuel as going to be 100pm and to me that's a lot of money. Also the money from the sale can go towards getting my Twingo...
Just while I think on. Did you ever look into a 1.6 turbo Renault /Nissan engine for fitment? Just this would be my next step the way rally classes are going.
I am under no illusions that it will probably be 155/160. I don't know if it's worth going for a ph1 172 airbox or one of the new itg kits as its only got a standard airbox with a pipercross filter in it. I much prefer the free bhp that is an angle grinder!
My 133 with cams, manifold, exhaust and induction mods should be 160ish bhp them mods alone are 2k without mapping. Luckily I didn't pay anywhere near that price. I will have more of an idea when I am down at EFI about power. My car is for rallying so not a road car.
Epic work! You can't beat a parts bin special, my old puma had alsorts of Ford bits on it and my Avenger zetec had a sorted Ford and BMW bits in it lol
Well sad days with doing more miles now the 3 is going up for sale soon.
I am actually going to be sad to see it go surprisingly as its just a realy nice car to drive and has lots of toys. The replacement deisel yaris will be so s**t compared to the 3.
It's fitted with a more free flowing set up than the ktec 163 kit so I am hoping for 150+. Its hopefully a lot lighter than standard so aiming for 200bhp per tonne would be nice.
I have the Twingo rally car booked to go in for mapping at efi in a few months time. The car basically has cat cams ktec manifold and exhaust. I have never had a car mapped as all my previous rally cars have had standard engines.
I was going to give it a oil service, plugs were done less than a...
Cleaned the 3 as it was minging and to get the salt off. Got some winter wheels last week for the bargain price of £51! They are mitsubishi Lancer alloys that are a straight fit with almost new khumo winters on and painted realy bad by hand but pass the 6 foot test.
133's use laguna calipers and 172 discs. Could you get the calipers from the car you got the engine from? There is a OK selection of pads for calipers.
This is going to be so rewarding when it's back together. My Hillman Avenger rally car used to do 8mpg on twin 40s until a fuel line split and it went up!
Fancy fuel does nothing to fuel economy or performance by the feels of it. Still a lovely place to be and its nice having cruise again. The tyres are rubbish so need to change them, I have been on the look out for weeks for a good set but nothing local so far.
I have used them for my rally cars and they have a very good name within the rallying world. Most of the people that work there are involved in motorsport in one way or another.
Great write up. I love the idea of a bike but I hate riding them, I am thinking of a can-am spider when I have done more rallying.
At least you went to Mull as so many people miss it out. We go to Mull as much as possible and I do the rally in October that they close the public roads for. Them...
He wanted the cash as he was going a few days later to buy a vw camper. Nice bloke and didn't have a clue about cars.
I am tempted to do a track day in it just for s***s and giggles as it feels like it would go well. I have put some momentum 99 in it today to see if it makes any difference.
So had the 3 for a few weeks now and I am undisided if I like it or not. Its nice to drive fairly economical (40mpg) BUT the exhaust is too f**king loud for a daily and the suspension setup makes my twingo cup feel luxurious!.
I am on the look out for some nice 17"s with some taller profile...
