Spent £1200 with 172 Clio on service, wk later engine failed I want to cry

They obviously didn't change the accessory kit with the aux belt. Cowboys. Sorry to see this mate.

    Best Mods For 2500 For A 197

Its not so much a waste if you buy mods that are easily reversable and have good resale value. For example coilovers, exhausts, seats etc sell very easily on here and if you buy and sell carefully you won't lose too much.

    My 2001 Black Ph1 172

Smart that mate. You do realise how quiet the yozza stealths are don't you? Just a heads up incase your after more noise.

    Not happy! can you help?

Looks great as it is mate! Set of coilovers maybe.

Spent £1200 with 172 Clio on service, wk later engine failed I want to cry

This is exactly why i'd only have a RS Clio serviced again by one of two specialists, both off here. There are other good ones down south but thats too far away.

    Best Mods For 2500 For A 197

I'd personally go for KW3 Coilovers, exhaust and a remap. If you go over to clio197.net theres a lot more info on 197 mods.

    r26 progress thread.

What sort of power is the 197 throwing out then? Must be quick with that amount of work done!

    Clio price's

For £5K you should be able to get a mint 182 with belts now. Theres on in the forsale section on here, can't remember who's it is but its on 68K, turini's, matched inlets, exhaust etc for 4200 with fsh and belt changes at rentec. I'd buy it tomorrow if I wasn't going to uni next year. Such a bargin.

    Clarkson and the Clio tyres

Tyres can make a great car into a poor car if you use poor tyres. When you see a performance car with budget tyres it makes me sick. I never got on with the tr1's I had on my 172 though, I actually prefare the mid range federals I have no my mazda 323 run around. I think i'd go hankooks when...

    New run around!

Decent car for the money that Ben. Providing its reliable then your laughing getting 65mpg.

    rs tuning results with graphs

Good result that mate. Its a shame they don't make the 180 they're supposed to from the factory, yours is making good power now at least.

Loving my new'ish tyres and brakes

Good setup that mate. I ran TR1's and standard brakes on my 172. Never got on with the TR1's but the standard brakes were ok for road use. Would have prefared uprated though.

    Car Insurance Premiums - WTF?

Insurance claims have made premiums rise a lot. Seems a bit unfair considering its the people uninvolved in the claims that are being penalised.

    Another Frozen White Focus RS!

If I was buying one out of warranty i'd go for somebody like Jam-sport, If in warranty then montune all the way. No point in buying a brand new car then throwing the warranty away.

£3,500 for a new car, what Clio to buy?

I'd go for the best example of a ph1 or ph2 you can find if you have no preference. I'd just look around for the one in the best condition with history etc.

    Induction Kit is MENTAL!

It sounds awesome. Be interesting to see how much power it has lost, ideally somebody should create a solution that sounds like an open cone but without the disadvantages. The closest available on a 1*2 if a ph1/v6 airbox without air feeds. Doesn't lose power but gives a nice loud roar when...

    Norfbest - Waterside Meet 08/08/10

+1 Recaro's, speedlines, cup pack, spoiler. Absolute heros spec. A spec that will be awesome to buy in 3 years time when its worth £7-8K and pikeys like me can/want to afford them ;)

    Induction Kit is MENTAL!

Matt-nos's Clio GT sounds good actually, think thats standard too. More induction noise than I expected.

    Induction Kit is MENTAL!

I didn't realise it was possible to get so much abuse for putting an open cone filter on your car. He'd probably get less abuse if he started a thread saying he'd murdered a small child for a laugh. If its any consolation I like it, I wouldn't personally run an open cone but they do sound superb.

    New car

+1 I loved the jump from 1.2 to my ph1 172. I don't think i'll get to experience such a difference again :dapprove: Enjoy the car mate.

Only a starter motor solonoid coming loose, he'd just fitted a new starter motor. Nothing serious fortunately.

    Retirement...

Shame to see it mothballed Chris. Sounds like its the best decision for you at the minute though. A new place and having a 133 to play with will make up for having the RB sat in the garage.

a few pics of the r26...

    Looks really good that mate.

    Norfbest - Waterside Meet 08/08/10

    Rarer than Goldust!

Like I said on the first page if I was to get another 1*2 i'd go yozza.

    Spec me a warranty

+2 The things that break will be wear and tear items anyway. Its usually things like engine mounts, exhausts etc that wear out. Quickly.

    Retrofit ESP + Cruise Control

Cruise is a good feature. I'd like to have it on my next car, just makes motorway cruises more relaxing, easier to stick to the speed limit too as you can't creep your speed up going downhill etc.
