Nick172Cup's Renault Clio DCI 65 project thread (ish).

So another 5 years taken off my lifespan yesterday... Decided that really I do need to start making an effort to fix this car so spent a couple of hours yesterday removing pretty much all the interior. Plus 3 bin bags of wet, actual s**t smelling carpet and under foam stuff. Rear...

Disc and Pads for Road use only

Cheapest disks and pads going if you're just using it on the road. Even if you have a mad 5 minutes they'll hold up fine. Why waste £200 on brakes when you could get a £50-80 set that'll do the job just fine. Unless the rears are completely worn, don't even bother changing them. They do nothing.

    Nick172Cup’s 2nd 172 ’TrackCup’ Project/Build.

Cheers mate! :) Bro rides a 2012 Lapierre Zesty with a couple of grands worth of extras, and I've got an average Litespeed Niota with a mixture of parts to build it up with. Hope 4pot front brake/RockShox Reba front sus etc etc. Rode down at Swinley Forrest today, but ride at Devils...

    Nick172Cup’s 2nd 172 ’TrackCup’ Project/Build.

So another little update - With the DCI still being in its current broken disgusting state and not having any time to even look at it because i've been working away in Cornwall this past month, the Cups been the 'daily' so to speak and doing it finely(ish). Its been pretty versatile, i'll let...

Oulton Park Trackday Videos (non-Clio, Westfield)

Awesome bit of pedalling there! Actually look a lot more comfortable without the instructor, his hand gestures would annoy me after a while! lol

    The lean green cornering machine

Colours pretty mad, what's mental is you've gone to all this work to paint it inside and out with the cage etc, yet the cage doesn't have a harness bar.

    Le Mans 2013

Lol if you want mate! Bro ordered them when I was away, so just got to get them fitted to the Cup to make sure they all work alright.

Bilstein B14 now available for 182 Cup?

Yeah Sir_Dave had his H&R'S set at near on standard ride height and I personally think they work better like that! The Bilsteins on my cup currently are as I got the car, and too low. Handles okay on the road but I don't really push the car hard. Could do with being set higher so they are more...

Bilstein B14 now available for 182 Cup?

Lol. Tbh, when I drove your Trophy at Bedford, what suspension did it have? Sachs or H&R'S (Bilsteins pretty much)? As even with quite a bit of roll and R888's that was actually more fun to drive on track than my old disciplined stiff FK Konigsport setup on my Cup. Plus I was still running...

Bilstein B14 now available for 182 Cup?

Can imagine with stickier tyres you'll get a bit more roll with the sheer extra grip. But tbf, I think that amount of roll's alright, given that the suspension is so versatile for both having fun on track and most of all... Road. Want stiffer suspension, then sacrifice road comfort, if not...

Bilstein B14 now available for 182 Cup?

Looks pretty good to me also. Though with everything if the drivers ham fisted then it'll make the suspension look 's**t'. When really, if you drive smoother and adapt your driving style to the spec of the car, then driving is so much easier/enjoyable.

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

Indeed. All the time in not racing, ill be at the race meets helping out in one way or another. Always happy to help any of the Clio teams out with bits off my car, Quaife, AST 2's, engine, wheels, GRP panels. You name it and my car will have it. ;) Just as long as I get my parts back or get...

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

Lol. I could rent mine if his breaks. Though he would have to drive smoother with some mechanic sympathy, and no rallycross sectors like last season! ;)

Bilstein B14 now available for 182 Cup?

This. If I was going serious on my trackcar I'd have the Billy's all day long. So competent on the road and really work well when pushing on.

    E92 335i

That looks very good indeed. Never been sold buy the E92 unless in ///M form, but the colour and wheels on this just works.

    Fk konigsport

If I was in your shoes, I'd be putting 25mm spacers on the front with 2-3 degrees of camber. Raising the ride height at the front if its that's low will also help, being 'slammed' doesn't mean it'll handle well. A cage will stiffen the car big time, having got a 6 point cage in mine it...

    Fk konigsport

Rear ARB will make a noticeable difference but won't stop the front from 'leaning' when cornering. People need to remember that roll isn't a bad thing. I highly doubt that it'll be rolling as much as the standard setup. They are also a road/track coilover, not a race coilover that will corner...

    Fk konigsport

Too soft? When I had mine they weren't even near fully stiff and they cornered pretty well/flat. How old are they? Could do with a rebuild? On the spring front if your going to do it, speak to Faulkner springs. They do custom springs for various applications.

    Spacers.. Yes or no..

Never had that feeling of dullness on all of the Clios I've owned, only benefits for a trackcar for me.
  25. N

    Spacers.. Yes or no..

Personally wouldn't, then you'd have to go 15mm on the front otherwise it'll look weird. Then you'll no doubt get rubbing issues.
  26. N

    Spacers.. Yes or no..

Yes. 10mm front and 5mm rear with longer bolts will make a noticeable difference without any problems with rubbing.

    Best cams for rs2 xtra

I'd personally leave the standard cams myself, apart from the C&B's that James from JMS had I've not seen cams make a good amount of difference for the price. What power has it made now its been mapped mate?
