Dan - Indeed mine was a Cup.
Indeed yeah I've heard about Millerins Cup, I think my old engine (Mikes current engine I believe) was strong one as that made 181bhp / 167lb/ft of torque on the standard inlet with just basic breathing mods.
I guess even comparing two cars with RS2's but...
Dan - I hope it doesn't sound like I'm trying to put a downer on your results as I'm not, just interested to see if there's further work that could be done to get more torque from it.
Bet it still races on and sounds mental at 7700+rpm!
Interesting. That's quite a lot of torque to loose though compared to the standard 1*2 cams, as most did 150lb/ft until like 7,000 rpm and then still make about the same as Dans has after. Only difference between the cams is the 197 cams make 5-10bhp more.
I think that would put me off a bit...
The only thing that's weird on this picture is that your torque figures massively low Dan? Something like only 145lb/ft, or am I not reading something properly?
You have a point, but I've always liked the RS2 so I think I'll always head towards getting a single throttle body plenum setup. Plus the power delivery makes a big difference to me, I know you can get similar delivery from ITB's but cost again falls into it for me as well as not being able to...
See I'd be okay with that Chip as I'd want it for a trackcar. I still think it would be much cheaper than getting ITB's even after mapping etc, and you still have the chance to put it all back to standard with ease rather than butchering stuff like with ITB's.
Nice work guys, from the way you're describing the power band now it sounds a lot like my old RS2 with the 50mm extensions. Pushed the peak torque figure up and lost some low down torque. Though you still really couldn't tell you'd lost the low down torque because of its power delivery.
Makes...
Then my bet would be to sell as is, it fix it up yourself to sell. Icebergs a common colour for the Ph2's so sourcing cheap parts shouldn't be a problem.
Breaking is a ball ache, but if you have the patience/time/space most of all its worth it.
These days it's only really worth it if its a modified car, or stupid cheap. As f**king mongs on here sell things for that cheap, I actually wonder how they even make money from doing it!
Dan, its cool buddy. I knew what I was up against with buying a car at this price, condition. I was never expecting it to be plain sailing. Honestly think the rooflining/sunroofs alright! There's a drainage pipe that goes from the lowest part of the scuttle panel into the engine bay behind some...
Indeed Tony, probably could have done more work on the car recently but i've been drinking far too much of late! lol
Yeah was pretty bad at Llandow Chris!
The dash looks alright, its a bit crude/rough around the edges but didnt want to go too mad with it then realise i'll have to make new...
So a little update...
Been meaning to find out why I keep getting a big puddle of water in my passenger footwell, so I went on with removing the dash and all the thick sound deadening from behind there. While the dash was apart, I looked into slimlining the dash a little and cutting bits away...
So a little update....
Down to 61mpg, still epic but there has been another little list of problems that I have come across....
The whole of the floor, front and back is drenched.
Squeeling noise coming from a pulley or something in the engine bay.
Got a warning light on the dash, think its to...
Of course sweetheart.
Lol, no worries about earlier Dan also. Hope you struck up a good deal with your new Nigerian friends! ;)
Ah thats a bummer! I'd still be interested in them as most of the plastics could be cleaned but it would far easier to just replace them, if he's interested in...
