I removed mine all together. I doubt the caf provides any cold air unless its being sucked through it by the airbox.
When using a V6 or ph1 airbox that collects air from infront of the battery intake temperatures are only 2-3 degrees over ambient temperature @ 60mph according to JMS's thread.
197's main downfall is the fuel consumption. Its rivals like the MCS will do 45mpg official combined figure.
On a motorway run 40mpg plus was very easily achieveable in my 172.
Bit of a shitter that mate considering you haven't had it a week. Problem is the F4R is a whiney engine when perfectley heathy so its hard to notice faults sometimes.
Better without cup suspension anyway. More coilover options. KW2's and white 2118's would make this car awesome.
Lovely car as it is though. Enjoy it mate.
Don't worry about mileage. To be honest if I was to buy another 172 I wouldn't care whether it had been to the moon and back. Generally the same things will need replacing any way and the engines are strong if maintained.
I doubt you will get a FSH <60,000 mile ph1 for £2K. Chances are if its...
I had Eibach sportlines on my 172 and found them excellent.
I'd also recommend the JMS induction setup, will make the car feel a lot better than the standard induction setup.
Those mods would go down well with your yozza.
Should cost you less than £300 too.
RS Tuner remap would also...
I'd upgrade but maybe not to something as expensive to insure as an RS Clio.
I've just sold mine because i'm going to uni in September. I could have kept it but expensive tax, insurance, consumables and repairs meant i'd be much better off financially with something a bit cheaper...
I'm going. Its my birthday so me and little bro will be going.

Well my only experience of a dCi is my gf's mums. Its 54 plate 50 odd thousand miles, owned from new and properly maintained.
She's had numerous problems, alternator, injectors etc.
I just know a few people off here have had problems with them and I think its because when they do break it...
Gutted its a right pain when this happens.
Happened to my uncle a couple of days before he traded his car in about 8 years ago too.
Glad your ok though mate, thats all that counts.
I'll be extra careful with mine now as i'm selling it on Sat.
