    Best place for a battery

I usually buy mine from the local factors, my current one is a 'Charging bull' one iirc, cost me £38, 3 year warranty and even after not starting the Clio for nearly a month it fired up without even struggling. Had a few of these now and seem to last really well

    Newbie :-)

As long as the belt is a gates belt it should be ok. The dephaser is only available genuine as far as im aware 1000000% get someone with proper experience to do the belt change for you - they need correct locking tools and need to know how to do it or it WILL be wrong - trust me! 100%...

Home Cinema, A/V, Lighting, Automation Build Thread/Progress Blog

Looking great mate! I know naff all about this type of stuff, but my brother owns an electrician company and I talk to him a lot about the jobs he does - It's amazing where some people pull a couple of hundred thousand quid from to renovate a house!

Yes it is good practice to change the belt - if the whole kit has been changed recently then you can just change the belt rather than the whole kit. It isn't an mot failure - the noise is usually caused by a car missing oil changes or having dirty/cheap oil - the dephaser is oil driven so can...

    Magnex Exhaust question

They are a right pain, I have had many different types of exhausts over the years and they have all banged and knocked bar one - a Yozza is the only one thats fitted first time and never knocked. Best advise I can offer is try to get the exhaust slid into the sleeves as far as possible

    Newbie :-)

Welcome Amelia :) I tihnk the noise you are hearing is most likely your dephaser pulley Does it sound like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PN72UVcx41k If it is the dephaser it will go quiet when revved then noisey again at idle. If this is the case it's a fairly big job, requiring the...

    Learner Driver

I let an ex of mine learn in my XR3i (Powerful enough for a leaner!) and another Ex I taught to drive in my 2.0 16v Mk1 (That would run in the 13's at Pod) Both cars survived, both were additional drivers in my insurance. Driving accasionally as a leaner (ie someone with them( i'd be happy...

    Best way to waste 40k

It's not too bad tbh mate, esp is a bit intrusive on wet roads (no suprise) but is still quite tractable

    Gearbox help!

If the ratios are different in the vauxhall boxes then yes it would make the accelleration slightly better but may reduce top speed - depending how different the ratios are it could make normal driving annoying as where as before you were doing 70mph at 3000rpm for example, with the different...

    Clio 172 phase 1 turbo

I had yellowstuff in the elise, they did stop it ok but they had NO feel to them whatsoever IMO they only work well in light cars, I had to use greenstuffs in one of my minis once and they worked ok - used them in a mates Sierra once and they lasted half a day lol

    1.6 engine

the difference you would feel wouldn't be worth the effort mate, especially as you can buy a 172 for peanuts these days it would make more sense just to buy a 172
  21. R

    Would you buy these?

    this. x1 million

    Peco exhausts, any good?

So did i! I had a white SRi with a Cavalier SRi 130 engine in lol  (I'm taking this was 1998 mind :o ) They are cheap for a reason tbh, tend to be loud and drony from my experience

MOT Failure: Sabelt steering wheel (Drivers airbag missing)

An interesting read that mate, i bet a lot of testing stations won't aware mind, it would be good to carry that around like you have to do with the cups with regards to the rear brake bias

    Possible blown head gasket ???

I'd happily buy a gates belt, but after going on a course where we cut open some oem filters and so.e aftermarket ones, I always use oem

    204 bhp with ITB's?

As Tony says, it's all pub talk but as a general rule of thumb a standard engine on a good map with itbs should be somewhere between 190-200bhp. Remember the standard engine will be somewhere around 165-170bhp as standard so 25-30 bhp extra is somewhat about right. But figuees don't tell...
