Yes it is mate, it uses the same turbo (GT28R) as the high boost conversion and all the rest of the kit's capabale of running 300bhp if you want to upgrade the internals at a later date.
Steve
I'm really not that interested in bragging to people etc.. otherwise there'd be a thread in the project section as Ktec were kind enough to give me the photographs from the full installation. Besides It is the only Turbo Trophy in the country don't ya know. LOL
For people considering tuning...
Bazzon I understand what your saying about pushing the limits on track compared to the road.
Before I started doing bike track days I used to ride quickly and get my knee down at every opportunity, since doing TD's I just don't see the point in risking it.
However there's no need to ram it...
Sorry to hear about your dad, as someone who does a lot of organsised bike riding it's never good to hear of someone being hurt doing something they love.
I really think were getiing off on the wrong foot here but the opening poster asked about VFM tuning only to be told how theres no point...
To be honest your best off deciding how much power and torque you want then working out the cheapest way to get there. As mentioned forced induction provides the biggest gains but will be costly, however if you go down the route of cams, headwork, itbs etc your still loking at the thick end of...
Its really useable mate, you can still put your foot to the floor in first at say 1500rpm and it just surges forward no wheel spin, it does feel quite brutal though and not something I'd recommend if you want your box to last, but this will be the same as any form of tuning at 200bhp+
Steve
It is mate thats why any thread/PM thats directed towards me ref turbos I always advise them to try different conversions before they part with 3K +.
It's common sense really isn't it?
The reason I'm not overly fussed on ITB's is the further tuning potential, ie cams, high comp etc is mega...
I think you'll find it started as a 155 the same as everyone elses.
Besides once the exhaust manifold was taken off it's just the same as a 172.
Think we'll just have to disagree on which tuning is the best.
But obviously anyone can see it's the turbo! LOL
Bazzon, hasn't your track 172 got catcams fitted aswell to make that figure?
As obviously ITBs and cams would make it a bit more expensive than the Turbo kit.
Steve
Heres the graph from mine
You can see that theres quite a bit more torque between 3000 rpm to 6500rpm
for the turbo.
Whilst peak power is similar if we look at
3500 rpm 92bhp vs 102 bhp
4500 rpm 133bhp vs 142bhp
5500rpm 170bhp vs 188bhp
6500rpm 194bhp vs 205.9bhp (peak...
Mate its a tough call, but I would go for the Turbo over ITBs.
Yes they are similarly priced but I think the characteristics of a torquey turbo'd car are much more enjoyable than a screamer on ITB's.
My power figures from RStuning (where Paul told me that stock 1*2 make about 155-160) were...
Know exactly how you feel mate, the girl friend got up this morning to find footprints all over her smart roadster.
Not content with just running over the car they've also been jumping up and down on the roof and bent all the runners for the convertible roof!
Some people are right little...
This was the dilema I faced mate, sell the Trophy get maybe 7K and then have to put loads towards getting something significantly quicker.
Or spend 3K and retain the car that I've owned from new, know every thing about and reap the rewards of keeping it in mint condition for all these years...
Mate you need pretty much everthing on the pages below
http://www.k-tecracing.com/catalogue.asp?app=Clio%20172/Cup/182
You'll also need to purchase the cast (log) manifold, whilst I appreciate your friend is handy with exhausts the space between the block and bulk head is to tight for a...
Yeah I was trying to find an smilie with a pinochio nose but it wasn't happening LOL.
Each to there own at the end of the day, lexus lights aren't really my cup of tea but then I'm sure turbo'd Trophies aren't everyone elses either.
Spotted earlier today while I was out and about.
Wasn't really paying attention and by the time I'd clocked it you were looking the otherway otherwise I'd of give you the thumbs up.
Anyone?
Mate I was flashing you over was gonna get your number off you so we could T up a blast out some time, but to be honest your never off this place so I could just PM you
It's turbo'd
I didn't come any where near stealing your title!!! mind you whingiest (if thats even a word) title was...
Ha Ha a remember now.
Good eyes to spot the front intercooler, i think it's quite discreet unlike the wastegate chatter LOL
You should of came out to the NE meet yesterday we had a right laugh tearing it up round north yorkshire. Next time I'm out and about I'll keep my eyes peeled for...
Hello mate thanks for the constructive replies.
My cars spec is.
GT28 turbo
Janspeed cat back
Decat
Open induction kit.
Front mounted IC
Standard internals CR etc...
I find it hard to accept that they are a mish mash of components as theres a number of clios running these...
Re read your post again mate and so basically
The hot turbo is increasing the inlet temps
The cams are more suited to a SC?
Turbo back pressure is slowing exhaust gas exit
Now I'm not being funny but if you were to also add in the the power lost from the rotation of the supercharger...
Nope mate totally standard bar the exhaust system. but nothing internal.
I still find it hard to fathom how theres 50bhp difference for the smae boost pressures.
Even though a turbo may restrict the exhaust gas flow and the standard cams maybe more suited to SC surely not to that extent?
