Yeah me too Chris! Want to be chasing you round tracks seeing as yours is ready ;)
Yeah will put some pictures up this evening now it's home. Needs a mega clean also!
One of the biggest differences in power and torque for my 172 Cup but supposedly the 182 inlets are pretty good as standard. If you have the spare cash go for it otherwise i'd just save it for something else non power related.
LOL What a plum!
Obviously thought the TRACKDAY we were doing was a test day. Really wanted to injure the driver of that car after what he said... "These things happen in racing", makes me angry still!
Not including the car the total spent on mine just in tinkering bits not consumables is knocking on the door of £7,500... FML Depresses you when you think about it, however when i'm back out in the car i'll quickly forgot what i've just said! :)
Right here's my Rolling Road printouts from the time I purchased the car.
This is the car when it was completely STANDARD.
As you can see, an average figure from a 172 Cup I feel as standard.
This is the highest STANDARD INLET result I had...
With this setup I had Matched Inlets...
Havent touched it at all matey, I havent tried bumping the car either as yet and with regards to the ECU we plugged it into Renault CLIP as said and it didnt even read that the ECU was there. Its out of my depth checking power feeds to stuff also, but will ask a few friends to see if they can...
Also I just want to point out, the difference in power/torque between ITB's and the RS-2 may look like big but in reality from my experience on track the extra 10bhp/15lb/ft of torque made no difference at all. People can scream the high hills buy frankly I don't care, it is what it is...
Yes thank you I have driven an ITB'd car, and no I'm not agitated modified car owner at all. Tbh im actually very happy with the way the torque curve is on the RS-2, it never once feels flat when you put your foot down, be it on road or track. With the ITB'd car I drove it felt good but not once...
I haven't touched the any of the loom regarding the ignition side of things, tbh when we plugged it on we didn't try cranking it as James said the immobiliser light was on so cranking it over wouldn't make a difference.
Relays from what I can tell were alright, not sure on the fuel pump though...
Yeah I know Jay, when being told that it works, people have done before and told what to do and dont do it gives you confidence that it'll work... Bit of a bummer but i'll still eventually race, even if all you other guys that are currently/going racing have stopped!
So it seems things have gone pete tong....
Got a complete untouched interior loom off ebay to try and see if it fixed the problems with the loom I put back in. Seems that it is something much more than the loom thats gone wrong at one point or another, all I got was the same immobiliser fault...
Lol! Your a bit of a 'billy' really, anyway as someone has said duration is better than a short peak of torque like ITB's offer.
Have you ever driven one also? Think you'll find that there's a few people on here that have ITB'd cars and have commented on how well the power is delivered, maybe...
Alright alright! lol ;)
Tbf I've heard of the race base ones but never actually seen one like that before which shocked me! Granted if it made it cheaper then fair play, still far too much interior/other bits in there for me! ;)
So forgive me if I'm wrong, it was setup and mapped to 7350rpm and you thought it would be just fine to raise it the rev limit more? Without adjusting anything like timing/fueling all the other parts you do calibrationwise etc etc?
Just got the renewal through from Brentacre, gone up by £75! I know its not bad but I have 2 bloody policies with them and havent bugged them once so the least they could do is keep it the same amount!
Tony + Jay, I completely know where your coming from. TBH for the time being its going to be the last thing on my mind as I need to get the car running as the loom problem has been a real kick in the b****cks! Going to try and source a good condition (fingers crossed) interior and just bolt it...
No I was planning to fit the heater box back into the car after it being painted but now I'm going to sack it off completely and run a heated screen as my current windscreen is funar'd.
So a little bit of an update, with good and bad :( news...
So all the polycarb windows are in and drivers seat in, actually starting to look like a car again! :)
However I finished all the loom and was mega carefu lwith it but it seems now once we've plugged it in that from the OBD port we...
