I'm in the same situation. Have been saving up for a 172 for ages and now I can't jusify the insurance premium they demand. I'm going to get a 106 gti i think, they are a lot cheaper to insure, run, maintain, repair, modify etc then get a 172 cup when i'm 21.

If you want my opinion i'd say tpft. As i've previously said you could break your car and not be too much down but if you lose your ncb your nackered for getting the Vee you want. Providing you don't hit another vehicle you can't lose with tpft unless your extremely unlucky and it gets burn...

172 Cup imo. Depends if you want the toys though. You could just save up the extra £500 and get a decent 182, but it depends if you want to wait and how far your budget is already stretched.
