Your not tied to your dealer for anything other than warranty work, you have a choice now as the rules changed over the last few years.

The resistor is 68+vat, but check the connections to the fan, you can get your hand down the gap.
There is a choice on them, so best check with your local dealer, if it a BEHR resistor then they are approx 25 from GSF.

When I done my dash conversion on my car I disconnected the display unit that shows the outside temperature and my climate control didnt work properly, had to re-connect the dash display and tuck it up under the dash, now working as it should.
It does affect the operation of climate control...
Take the engine cover off, look at the back panel of the car from the inside the engine bay if you get what I mean.

Take the the Xexon bulb holder out, the bulb should stay in place, have a look at the holder and you will see were the wire goes, they are fiddly but if you know the position to put it back in it helps loads.
ah if its brake efficiency thats failed, its probably just the rear pads that need changing, they rust to the slides on the calipers hence low efficiency.

mine runs fine with the de-cat (but I'm sure I got sent a sports cat by mistake), both sensors connected and emissions are as it would be for a car with a cat fitted.
