Out for a bit of a session on Sunday afternoon, ended up around the peaks over to Sheffield. Coming back i was in third following a line of slow moving traffic...i saw 'the gap' and thought yeah, why not.

blipped the throttle to match revs and disengaged the clutch to punch past an octavia....BANG!

followed by a lovely rattle and vibration every time i pull away or accelerate.

nice. already knew what i'd done, so i got my hand under the battery to find a shattered mount AND bolt. broken on the narrowest spider-leg and the bits were in the undertray.

again, nice.

limped home (35miles!) and had a gander. battery out and i saw my handywork. pics to follow, changing it tomorrow because i had to order the parts in.

the moral of the story is, don't overtake silver octavias. they are cursed.

end of rant.

jack the car up, so you can get a jack to the gearbox or take the wheel off . better off supporting the sump with a stand or something then take the weight off the mount by jacking the box up a smidge battery out etc then get the mount off 4 x 13mm bolts and 3 x 16mm bolts on the gearbox. you may have to re postion the engine whilst postisoning (sp) the mount to line up the holes, see if you can get someone to help if your not that strong or the box up a bit more to compensate
