A little tip to put your instrument panel into self test mode and reset trip computer on clio 2 phase 2, its a bit tricky but what you have to do is have the ignition switched off, hold the ADAC button (The button at the end of the wiper stalk), press the button that comes out of the instrument...
Your clutch pedal will feel a bit harder, bite point will be high and it may slip.
A simple way of testing for cluch slip is to drive car at around 20 mph in top gear, put you foot down while pressing the brake pedal, If the engine revs increase then your clutch is buggered.
Dont be a put off, Mate I love my 172 its ace , all cars have got minor problems, If you want perfection then you pay big money. A 172 is pretty good really , who cares about the odd rattle or knock I bet Citroen have just as many problems and Saxos are common as muck and having worked on a few...
The only thing that can be done is to have the ECU reprogrammed but as you have had a new ECU thats been done, I know that the trottle body on the 1.2 16v give a bit of trouble, ask your dealer to to check the parameters with the CLIP diagnostic tool and carry out a recorded roadtest checking...
The knocking I get on mine only happens when turning left hard, it happens more so on rough roads but its not a safety issue but more annoying than anything else, the knocking noise is a dull clonk. But im not to fussed but I will sort it as it wont cost me anything, If I had to pay for it I...
Every time your car goes to a Renault Dealer ask them to carry out an ICM check on Renault Net, Renault are pretty good at ensuring that known faults in large numbers of cars are rectified, every month the dealer gets technical notes, nt notes and a dialogys update. So if anything needs doing...
I have heard a little bit of news Renault have released a mod that gets rid or the limiter and as its a genuine renault part it does not invalidate the warranty, I will keep you posted on this upgrade Im trying to find out the part number for it and I will post it on the forum as soon as I have...
Just a suggestion about the way you car feels on the road, has anyone swopped the tyres front to rear to see if this makes any difference, for some strange reason this seems to cure a lot of steering/tracking related problems.
And yes the knock is really annoying my 172 does it, I have had it...
172 looney has answered ya questions but one thing I have to add about the xexons is that a little problem I have found with clios regarding the xexons is on the rear axle you will find a small link rod attached to a fixed point on the axle, make sure this item is attached as they seem to drop...
A Common problem with Renaults , I have tried to flush a few out but in the end it is best to replace the heater matrix and replace coolant.
The heater matrix is not that bad a job to do, depending on what Renault it is, I would say it takes me about 2 - 6 hours to do from start to finish once...
Some 172s do go a bit better than others depends how they have been treated, I have driven a fair few and I can say that the ones driven like grannys tend to be not so responsive, but then others driven how they should be driven up in the high rev range go rather well. But generally they all go...
Change my oil and filter every 2500 miles using Renault oil and filter (Dont forget to change ya sump bung washer).
And I would recommend getting ya gearbox oil changed every 10000 miles as we all know Renault do not specify changing of this oil, trust me it needs to be changed.
;)
I got a K&N K57i Induction kit on mine, It sounds lovely a nice deep sound, performance wise I noticed a lot of difference from standard and to top it off I got the kit new for £64.00 off ebay.
One drawback is that you tend to put ya foot down more for that lovely sound it makes so you use a...
A common problem, but as your car is 2 years old pop it round to your local dealer and they should replace it for you at a discounted price as Renault contribute towards the cost you may even get a 100% contribution , I love 100% very cheap indeed. C Ya Peeps
