Andy - it pulls verry well, though a bit flat at lower revs - I think the map may need a bit of work, so it's going on the rollers to be checked, il let you know what I find :)Jonny - Cheers dude lol, the standard ecu is great bit of kit, very underrated, though as the map sensor must get some...
i think thats where itb's get a bad rep with regards to bhp per £ - as we know they make such a difference to how the car drives, and how much more power they make at pretty much every point in the rev range - plus the throttle response is fantastic, as you say as long as it's mapped correctly...
After a few opinion, my new one has Schrick cams (280/288) and currently a 180 exhaust manifold with a Yozza sport cat.
Opinion please, what would be better, keeping the 182 manifold or going back to a 172 one?
I know all about the 182 suppoed to be better, but with regards to the cams id like...
For that cash you could only do a few things and what id do is:
Decent matched tyres - nothing too grippy, as you need to learn the car first, so some decent road tyres (Yoko Advans as an example)
Decent brake pads and discs - G172 off here sells Brembo front discs for £45 a pair which is a...
jd has had an S3 for ages dude, as said you need more than a chip to get that power, unfortunately most places give false claims-i expect that car will have somewhere around the 245-250bhp mark, though i expect the dv is leaking as they all do lol so probably less.
Welcome mate, no there are internal modifcations to the 172 engines, from memory yours is 136bhp, where the 172's are 166bhp - you would need to spend a lot of money to get your current engine anywhere near that bhp
There is only done dephaser and no its not known as bottom pulley as its on the top of the engine not the bottom mate.
That does sound like a dephaser but i would recommend getting a specialst to look at it to confirm and yes you need to do the cambelt
Who is 'us'? as it certainly wont be anyone off here, im still trying to figure out why you bumped a 2 year old thread to talk about something that is in no way linked to this thread?
seriously calling other car owners 'you people' is simply trolling - stop giving us a bad name.
i have no...
Standard procedure in a service is to flash the ecu for faults, we have had cars refused warranty due to ecu work (VW)just speak to the people you decide to get the map from and ask them - they will be the best people to speak to
As it's been stated dude you are technically driving uninsured - if you get stopped/have an accident and the police ask who's car it is, it is technically fraud what you are doing - being named on a policy is for occasional driving - im guessing it wouldn't be too difficult to prove who drives a...
How little faults you got on your test really doesnt mean much dude, you only start to learn when you start driving on your own.Take it from experience, if you cant afford to insure it then don't take the chance, plus no offence as if you race stock cars you are not going to be crap behind the...
Agreed, 172's are so cheap now it would be better to sell yours and buy one.Just off the top of my head you would need
Engine
gear box
engine loom
ecu
uch
keys+ignition barrel
driveshafts
hubs
suspension
the list goes on and on
Id ring and speak to the boss/manager dude, explain the situation, that you have taken it to another specialist who have come to another conclusion - if you can prov ein some way that the ecu is not the fault then you will have a good case to getting money off.Don't get angry though, if you have...
Pmsl love you x Already got some great ideas, need to get my other shell gone (Next weekend 100%) then can crack on with it :)I think it's going t definately be exclusive....... lol
Autocrash, this is what i mean, at the top of the threads in this section is this:
http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?445339-Fastcar-Clio-172-Air-Filter-Test
spend some time reading dude
first step get rid of the k+n, it will be loosing you power.
next stage spend some time reading the forum to understand what works and what doesnt
not meaning to be harsh dude just straight to the point
You need to decide what route you want to take.
The standard ECU can adjust to filter and exhaust changes, but still would benefit from a map - bear in mind the basics are it will drive smoother but not feel a huge faster.
If you want cams, throttle bodies etc then keep your cash in your...
