How can you check if it's the water pump? any tail tail signs?

I noticed today when i had the bonnet up with the engine running that i'm getting a very faint squeeking noise coming from under the battery to the right of the engine. Sounds like a belt squeeking as it's going round. Not really noticed it much before now so i assume as the bonnet was up it...

is that an import or just a white type S?
