Right, automata doesn't have the resistance value information for this model which is typical but sounds like you have the right sensor. The sensor is a 3 way sensor hence the 3 pins an according the Renault manual 2 are for the coolant temp information an one is for the indication on the...
if you can get the resistance values for the coolant temp sensor whip if out an put a multimeter across it an put the sensor in some water with the meter connected with a thermometer so you can check the water temperature an that the resistance readings are right for that tempreture an slowly...

Too lad for going to the trouble of sorting it all, I certainly know where ur coming from about making sure it wasn't down to ur work. Fair play dude. Good luck in resolving the problem.

A mate of mine has just broke his 25 turbo, I love um an yours is also a cracking looking car. His was running just over 400 bhp, proper labour of love he had had it best part of ten years. Keep up the good work.

Awesome mate, I traded my old Ph2 172 in for my 197 last year an it never fails to amaze me with its handling. My old 172 was setup on coilovers an handled great but the 197 is in a league of its own even as standard. Enjoy matey
