Only a couple, the roof mech is pretty well behaved, and if anything goes wrong they simply trip out and not open and you can close them manually
The main thing we have them back in for is leaks, the roof seals are not that great, so we do alot of warranty work on the seals, VW have changed...

Well for air entering the engine you want the inlet track to be as straight as possible, the difference made between having a 45 degree pipe and a straight pipe i do not know, best person id guess would be Icarus
