Not on a turbo engine but I did just that on my old high comp build , checked the bores ,gapped the rings and dropped forged pistons back in on standard rods. The engine went on to do 230bhp .
Not wanting to hi jack sharkys post
AVA on the first one including switching the ecu to one they could map, and all other parts for 600 bhp
2nd one myself , Sitech and MSD on the mapping on standard ecu.
I really hope you get the enjoyment you truly deserve out of this car once its complete .
I went through a similar story on a smaller scale years ago with a escort cosworth , it was away for over a year getting work done including some new developments. I had the car back and a few small...
That's exactly what I did when I sold the white one.
They still look stunning and nothing beats the kick in the back from a big boost YB, but to drive they really do feel old these days. If I were to have anything ford RS these days it would be another MK2 focus RS .
3 escort cosworths
white big turbo with low miles and 500 bhp , broke for parts making 27k would be worth 40+ now
Pacific blue big turbo really clean car sold for 20K would be worth 40+ now
Petrol blue small turbo sold for 11k ( was only due me 8k) would be worth 25+ now
Another pic I found online from the other weeks track day.
Really happy with the wat the car looks and goes justnow but struggling to get time out on track with work and other commitments
Going be moving house soon so need to shift a few sets of my spare wheels
Got these sparco cromodora with 888's £350
And these 6.5X15 wheels now fitted with Maragoni semi slicks , not sure on the make but they are light £120
Yip think the cone started up half way up duffel it just took a side swipe by my corner , wasn't till i went back out with Stu I noticed it was still lying on track.
Had the car out on track last week and had a bit of a knocking noise coming from under the car so need to look into that.
Also spun and collecting a cone adding a small dent to the back 1/4 so need to nick that out.
The pic above was stole from Stu who I sold the car to a few years ago he...
I would think the excessive build up of paint/powdercoat on the wheel has more to do with them coming loose than thread length, at 7 turns you should have fairly decent engagement.
You can see in the pic the way the nut has dug into the paint on the wheel, that should ideally be a metal to metal...
Im in Africa still for a couple of weeks , I have spaces on the SLS track sessions and Mikes track night booked up already. Tempted to book on the rev limits night on the 20th with the R8 aswell if I can get insurance sorted.
After the cars first track outing Ive got the bug again so hope to get 2 or 3 days booked up for next time Im home . There is a full day open pit , so may try to get booked on for that so I can try and get some much needed seat time and also mess about with suspension settings.
I also picked up...
Did my first trackday last week since fitting the engine with group N timing and efi map . I was impressed with the power delivery , and low down torque out of tight corners.
Has anyone ran group N timing with a turbo ?? As im planning on going turbo later in the year , would I be better to go...
Few pics from yesterday’s track day, was fun to be back out on track. With the car not having the extra power any more to hide my mistakes I’m really going to have to learn to drive it harder
My clutch and flywheel turned up today , thanks Russ
I have my first trackday booked for this Sunday. It’s short 15 min sessions so ideal to give the car a shakedown. I will then decide if it’s worth fitting the clutch and a refurbd gearbox or wait until I fit the turbo engine later in the year.
It was on a DynoJet dyne so will be different to the readings the SLS guys have been getting at RA , we did pull my old engines graph it was 205atw on the same dyno, and was 190+ at Performance HQ . Would guess this would be closer to 155atw on the RA dyno
Had the car on a friends dyno this morning to check the fueling.
The engine was mapped by efi in Frasers car with group n timing, I have a 182 manifold and different exhaust but fueling still seems to be safe.
If I was planning on running this engine long term I would take it back to efi for...
