After reading up online the DCI column seems to be voltage sensitive , the battery in the car isn't the best so will get a full charge then run the car to see if it makes any difference. I did read a few reports of similar symptoms when a battery is dying even when the car is running ?
I take...
I would like to see some more track days , but know getting numbers is hard so may be worth joining up with something like the fiesta St owners club for a joint day.
If anyone would be interested in a rolling road day I can see Simon at Sitech to arrange something.
They are a Brembo calliper used on the rear of a 996 turbo and also on the front/rear of boosters, they just fit behind the 15's with a 16mm spacer but thats on a 300mm disc.
On a daily i would agree but this is now a dedicated trailer/track car , so thought I might as well make it stand out...
Thanks
It was always going to be a love or hate choice , but think its turned out better than i thought it would. Actually tempted to keep the graphics to a minimum now.
The OZ wheels actually look alot better than they do in the pictures, but can't wait to try on the white chronos on.
The steering vibrates in both direction throughout the sweep of the rack, it does seem worse when turning to the left. I have tried it on a couple of different surfaces and its the same you can actually feel the steering vibrate as the motor struggles . I removed the motor today from the column...
I bought the column as a kit from SidMarx on here he had removed along with all the wiring. It is using the same gauge wire for power and earth.
I took the car up the road this morning and once up to about 20mph the steering feels fine.
I also removed the motor and it did initially spin then...
Thanks Morgan.
I have checked the wiring with a meter and all seems fine, don't think i will have time to mess about with it before i go back to work but hope its something stupid.
I was looking through BigAsh's thread and noticed he has two parts looped on his rack I only have the section on the right of the pic looped and have all 4 ports on the left blanked, Im not sure if this will be causing a resistance ??
It looks better than I thought it would on the silver legs and they are so light, but can't wait to see what it will look like on the anthracite 2118's or white Chronos.
Nope the column is fed from an ignition live so the car doesn't need to be running, its the same with the engine running though you just can't hear it.
If I have time before going back to work I will unbolt the motor from the column and see if it spins freely.
Nope not yet , I did think of that but with the upper part of the column removed it turns freely. I have also driven the car with the rack looped on the standard manual
column.
NO a local body shop guy painted it for me for a price that was too good to pass up, its to back to get flatted and polished before the graphics go on. But after seeing the car built I think the graphics will be minimum.
The callipers would cost about £100 more than Megane ones, luckily they...
Having a bit of a nightmare with the electric steering, got it fitted and wired but the steering is notch almost like the motor is binding up seems worse when turning to the left.
Did get one of the front callipers fitted to check clearance with my proper spacers, and looks like i could maybe...
The rack is looped and i put some fluid in to lubricate the seals. With the upper section of the column removed the steering is smooth turning it by hand just using the lower section.
I have ran them for this season and never had any problems when the aerocatches are shut properly :coldsweat:, I removed the seal at the back of the bonnet to allow air to flow through.
Just finishing the build up of my track car after its new paint job and got one side of my new brake set up fitted.
Having a few problems with the electric steering that will have to wait a month to get sorted, until i get home from work again.
Next to the road toy.
I have just fitted an electric steering column and control box today using a looped cup rack, I am getting notch steering almost like the drive motor is stalling ?
I can here the steering ecu activate and the adjustability is there but it almost sounds like the UJ is binding up, i have checked...
