Spot on, but i feel you are wasting your time arguing with this person. They are clearly a young, adrenaline filled lad who has delusions of grandeur about his lil 1.2...
Put it this way, given a long enough road and two fairly equal drivers, the RS will be faster in every situation.
The 1.2 may well handle well, but the power deficit it has versus an RS will be too much to make up on pretty much all but the very most twisty of roads. Even on those roads the RS...
LMAO at you (plattsy).
The 1.2 will not do 120, not because its restricted by gearing, but because it simply does not have enough power to overcome the drag at that speed.
120? LMAO. Renault will test their cars probably on something like one of those bowl tracks that most manufacturers use...
Why would you lie? I dont know... actually I dont think you are lying, just mistaken.
You will NOT reach 120 mph in a 1.2 with 75 bhp and the aerodynamics of a brick, its simple physics, it isnt possible.
You may reach an *indicated* 120 on a downhill gradient with a tailwind, but even then...
LOL :D
Wind your neck in pal.
Renault give the top speed as 106 mph, and you are telling me it will it 120. OK mate, whatever you say :D
Did I tell you my 182 will do 155 mph ?
A BRM should at least get very close to 135 guys... my mate had a 25 GTI which could hit about 130+ and that was about 15 bhp down on a BRM.
Oh, and no f**king way will a 1.2 hit 120, LMFAO.
The top speed of a 1.6 is only about 118.
Hmm, its funny some of these posts.
There was a guy on last week saying "it makes a HUGE difference, loads more power, and it sounds like a BEAST".
Now we have one that says "makes hardly any difference".
Me thinks some people get carried away...
I dont think I'll bother :D
It might handle better, but if you havent got the power to go with it, you aint gonna be keeping up... not to mention, an RS owner doesnt have to spend extra on the car to make it handle, it already does :D
Yes it would. The 1.1 is not much slower than the 1.4 saxo actually. I've driven one, they are decently nippy...
But thats all, at the end of the day we are comparing very sluggish cars here.
The key to the Clios success...
1. Light weight; important for a car that conveys a good impression of speed and changes direction quickly.
2. Excellent levels of feedback; you need this to tell how close you are to the limit, to judge what the road surface is like, and how the car is...
Same here... I also dont find a huge difference when driving slowly, probably because a lot of its around town.
Like you, I just drive how its intended to be driven and get about 28-29 MPG on the computer.
Thing is, if I was worried about ability and refinement yada yada, I'd buy a BMW.
Thats the issue most have with the 197. Its just too, well, tame.
Is storm force our first member who actually owns one?
Nightmare... i find it very odd that the rear discs would be worn after 18k. I dont handbrake it, and i thought the rear brakes didnt do much work anyway.
Nope, and the valver/willy didnt look aggressive either. Hot hatches seldom do "aggressive".
As for the 197; its become more grown up. Its expensive, its too refined, and its become boring. Its missed the point entirely. Proper raw hot hatches are very thin on the ground now.
Every time i...
I've just noticed that rear discs and pads at yozzasport is £165. That is for standard OEM items as well
This seems crazy to me, since you can get brembo carbon discs and ferrodo pads for the front for a similar price.
Why is it so expensive, and can you get them cheaper elsewhere?
Just had a 2 year service done, car has done 18k however its now 2 years old, so it had to be done. Renault wanted £230 for this!
Needless to say i took it to a well trusted independent, £110 for the same thing. Honestly, why do people let themselves be ripped off, especially when it...
My rasp has started to fade a little bit actually, but I've now done at least 4000 miles with it on. Its still there, but its getting less. Actually I didnt much like the sound at first, but i'm starting to like it better now.
