Is the Pilot Exalto really worth it over the others? The cost is just astonishing - £125 per tyre fitted! :( There are some pretty nice tyres that would save you a few quid.
Just want to know anyone who's tried alternatives on their 182 and what they think of them, as for me £125 a tyre is...
Used to have a Fabia vRS and had experience of chipped diesels mainly the PD130 ones. In standard form, the 182 will eat one alive. Chipped it'll be closer, but only the PD160/170 chipped would manage to beat a std 182. PD150 would be close, 130 would be slightly behind.
Most chips unleash 170...
First turn traction control off.
Find a big (preferably empty) roundabout. Drive around it fast, turn the steering wheel hard towards the kerb on your right hand side (obviously dont get too close!!!) and release the throttle. Control slide with steering inputs and throttle.
Dont blame me if...
Well the car I had before the 182 was a Mk2 GTI, and while it handled brilliantly and was definitely lots of fun to drive, it had problems beating even average 2.0-litre family hatchbacks (and I'm not talking 200 bhp ones eitherr!).
A 16v Mk2 is roughly equivalent to a Mk 4 TDI PD130 in terms...
No.
The current GTI as gazcaddy says is the fastest on yet. It would destroy any standard mk 1 or mk 2.
And contrary to popular belief the mk4 GT TDI was not quicker than the petrol one either. Yes they post better ingear times, but they are NOT faster overall.
I've got to say, I'm quite astonished at how impossible it is to have a civilised debate on this forum!
So a newer more modern car is faster. So what? I didnt say anywhere the other car was slow (far from it in fact), or that it was crap.
I dont know why the fact that newer cars invariably...
Pretty much every magazine who has done a road test on both has already proved it. I don't need to prove anything thanks, because I couldnt really care less.
Did I say it wasnt?
The reason is because it reaks of "my dads bigger than yours".
Who actually cares? Not me. I enjoy driving my car, you enjoy driving yours, and we're all happy. Why do people feel the need to go on arguing about petty things like this I'll never know.
The thread was...
Havent bothered reading this whole thread (not going to either), I had a little "play" with a Williams once, and I believe he was trying, and I'd say I managed to pull a couple of lengths on it to about 90.
Going down through the Teams towards the A1, I overtook you (silver 182), and then you followed me up towards sunniside before we went out seperate ways.
:)
Yeah I meant cruise control - didnt realise the climate disengaged at high RPMs.
As for quietness, yes this is true also, its a very quiet car compared to my last car (a mk2 Golf GTI).
1. The throttle clicks down, I know this is to disengage the CC, however, I am just wondering whether it requires you to click down to get full throttle or whether it occurs before then?
2. The exhaust on the 182... I understand this is how they got the extra 10 brake... so in effect does this...
Well they are at least 1 second faster to 60, probably at least 5 seconds faster to 100 and have another 10 mph at least top end, so that is a fair difference IMO.
This happens on mine. I havent got around to taping the hole under the drivers side wing mirror yet to see if that was it. Definitely wind related. Sometimes it occurs at 80 mph, other times I have to be going over 120 mph for it to happen.
I honestly cant remember any names - I didnt own a Clio and I wasnt a member... but the main thing that gave me that impression was some of the comments in a particular sub forum about racing, where people gave details of their scalps. To be honest, I found it quite compelling reading, but there...
Ditto.
I never bought this expecting it have the build quality either of my old Skoda or Golf. Its actually a bit better than I expected so far, but with only 8000 miles on it, we'll see. Its such a nice car to drive though, which IS the reason I got it.
I know I havent been a member on here for long.... but....
When I had my Fabia there was a couple of times when I saw links to this forum (when it was blue) and to be honest, the amount of muppets I saw here then was staggering. Almost enough to put me off the car altogether.
I'm pleased to...
I'm gonna go against the usual tide here, and say that the standard full fat 182 is still an excellent drivers car, and is worthy of consideration if the price is right.
I love driving, and I dont think the 182 is a bad handler at all, which is an impression one might get from reading some of...
I was following a bog std Punto on the way home last night, and I couldnt keep up with it!
Nearly couldnt get up the hill just before my house either, I was lucky to get up it at all. I thought ESP would help but based on my experience last night and what you lot are saying, obviously not.....
The problem with that car is, as I found out when I had my Fabia vRS, is that its a diesel - it has good performance yes, but lacks that all important "X-Factor". Its just not the same as revving out a petrol engine to 7000 rpm!
Also with the big lump of pig iron up front and lack of revs to...
Well it arguably is.... looks a bit more aggressive from the front. The Clio is obviously cuter and the Fabia looks a bit more mean.
Each to their own though.
I looked at getting a CTR to be honest, but for the price of a one year 182 with 2 years warranty and more toys, would have been lucky to get me a two year CTR, probably more like three year. I know Hondas are more reliable, but theres still no guarantee they wont break, and without a warranty...
Not true....
The mini measures 3655x1688x1416, weight 1140 kg
The civic measures 4140x1695x1420, weight 1270 kg
I dont know about you, but to me, that puts it firmly in the Astra/Focus class.
Also wasnt it £16k on its minimum spec. I.e. Air con another grand, etc etc. Even the most expensive...
