I cant understand the complaining about the gearing in the clio. Its a hot hatch. Maybe i am just old school but always felt that 4000rpm at 80 was par for the course in a car geared for good acceleration. Maybe you lot should buy a diesel - chip it and you'll be burning off M3s whiles sitting...

I like the first gear as well. I have no problems with it - sure it took some getting used to, but once i did, its absolutely no problems. Though i think some people treat the throttle as an on/off switch.

With all that extra weight, I find that hard to believe. It'll be more safe, isolated feeling and lardy than the old one. Apparently the newer bass models dont drive as well as the old base models, so I doubt this version will be any different.

It looks like a Micra. Which is what it is. And early roadtests suggest that while its still nicer to drive than some of its rivals, its not as enjoyable to drive as the old one. And how could it be? Bigger, heavier, and bloated.

I've checked the oil just now, its half way between the top and bottom mark on the dipstick. Must have just been the way it was parked - it was at a funny angle like... but it does make you panic a bit when you see that and you arent anywhere convenient to get any oil!

Surely the important thing is how it drives. The marginal power increase does not bother me, but i have a feeling the extra weight will makes it prescence felt in dulling the handling. If the lower models are anything to go by, i've already read reviews stating the new one isnt quite as good...

Assuming the Clio is a 16v, they are about 95 bhp and the 206 uses a crappy old 8v engine with no top end power, 75 bhp.

Might be £15k new, but if you can wait a year or less then you'll get it for £10k. No way I'll pay £15k for a car nowadays.
