Decent paint places seem in pretty short supply round here. I'm a bit out of touch but a couple of the RSOC guys used to swear by APVM in Rackheath so they might be worth an ask.
Just got round to watching these. He came across pretty well. Much better than his usual stuff, though that wouldn't be difficult.
Would be interesting to hear more about all the algorithm business.
Fitted an induction kit following the same pattern as @Adeyspec used on his old engine. Also blocked off the recirc. valve so it chatters away now.
Need a smaller air filter really, and to do a tidier job of the recirc. blank but whatevs
Got given the rear seats, so fitted them this afternoon:
Weirdly, since cleaning the front seats, the inside of the car smells quite bad. I don't know if disturbing the dirt in them has caused it or something, but it's pretty unpleasant. Not really sure what to do about it at the moment.
Not sure I can justify a 500+ mile round trip to map a £300 car unfortunately 😂
In brighter news, I sorted the exhaust today. No pictures as I was a bit pressed for time, but I took the two repair pieces out and welded them together on the bench, then put it back in place and welded it to the...
Weird they never did a convertible version of that gen Celica really, as they did with the others. Fair play for making it himself, though I think I would have gone for different body work personally, just so it was more unique.
First commute completed this morning. It drives ok. The oil smell is a bit unpleasant so might have to try and deal with that.
The NS2-Rs can get in the sea as well. I'm sure they're great, but the noise is beyond irritating.
Do you need an intercooler/exhaust? That being said, I don't know...
On the subject of the exhaust, it was blowing a bit. My mate said the centre section had snapped the other day, so he had bodged it. He wasn't lying 😂
It was all a bit loose and he hadn't used any exhaust paste, so I took it apart and tried to seal it as best I could, but it's still blowing a...
I gave the outside a very quick wash, just to get a sense of how bad the body work is. Found a few issues.
Missing bit of wiper linkage:
Headlights need sorting:
One of the GT badges is missing from the front bumper:
Crease in rear bumper:
Damage to NSR arch:
Stone chip on...
Bit of an update as I was messing about with it today...
I gave the interior plastics a bit of a clean and scrubbed the front seats as they were pretty dirty. Don't have any before pictures as I forgot, but they came up ok:
Annoyingly, my vacuum cleaner has died, so couldn't hoover it...
It feels like it's going to roll over at the moment. I think the tyres are a bit much for the standard suspension 😂
How do I get rid of the dump valve? I want it to chatter
I couldn't be bothered earlier. Will post some in a bit.
I've found a pretty high quality exhaust bodge, so...
So, as per the bangernomics thread, I've joined @Adeyspec on planet Twingo. Obviously mine is s**t and his isn't, but what can you do.
I sold my 197 a couple of months ago in preparation for a dramatic change in circumstances. That's all dragging on a bit, so I was in need of another car. I'd...
It's turning up tomorrow so will see if I can find anything in the book. It's a 58 plate on 135k so should have had a couple by now.
Not that bothered for £300 mind, but worth thinking about in case it's ok.
Hmmm, might ask the garage down the road how much they'd charge. Will see if I can find any evidence in the paperwork when the car turns up tomorrow first though.
I suppose it's good that it's easy, but that doesn't tell me how much I would be charged to do it :ROFLMAO: I'm sure I could do it myself, but not sure I really have the inclination.
I suppose I might need it if I can't be bothered to do the belt on this one
Anyone got any experience with this?
I'm about to pick up a very cheap 58 plate Twingo GT with the little turbo engine. It might need a timing belt. Any idea on what sort of money it would be to have this done? The belt kit is only about £60 from ECP with their endless discount codes, but I...
100% this. Reliability and tuning potential are miles away from character. The K20 is undoubtedly a "better" engine, but character often comes from flaws.
I quite like the FN2, and they do seem pretty good value. Not sure I'd have one over a Clio though and, for an every day car, something...
Lovely looking car - shame about the shonky workmanship underneath it all! True with so many restorations sadly. Nice to see it being put right though!
