Cambelt. WTF am I doing wrong!?

Do you have any play in the dephaser? I seem to recall Fred saying he rotates the pulleys backwards and allows 3 fingers worth of force to get the horse shoe back in...

Just seen an update on this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJzizYUEF9c&index=12&list=WL. Looks really exciting. Hope it is as good as it looks. I must make sure I finish my race car before I buy into it! @Darren S I was dangerous on the acorn electron and deadly on spectrum+ lol ;) If you...

    wheel cleaning/sand blaster

I'd consider paying 20 quid a wheel for a refurb but that's cheaper than anywhere I know. I have a load of wheels to do, probably 6-12 I haven't actually looked at how many need doing.

    wheel cleaning/sand blaster

I've got some wheels that have years worth of track pad dust baked on. I want to get them clean/preped so I can paint them. The only way I can get it off is by scraping with a screwdriver, but I really can't be arsed. So I was thinking of buying a cheap sand blaster e.g...

Where to buy 16 inch Slicks ?

I'd try some googling/tweeks/mrtyre (dunlop). 16" you don't get so much choice in general I find. Slicks seem to be thought of as expensive on here. I don't know if that's true or not.

    What cams are these?

Matt/TDF's 172 cup had 428s in. There is a thread on it somewhere, made mid 180s IIRC.

Can I change lower shock bolts without affecting the GEO?

Std shocks I'd say yes. You have ASTs with adjustable camber things don't you? In which case purists would probably say no, but personally if you only undid one at a time I'd say you'd be fine...

    Contracting in IT

Always calculating how much time off is costing you is so true lol. One of the reasons I did it was being sick of corporate BS. Now I get to carry on working while the permies go to the corporate pep talks. WRT job security, my current place have made 2 members of the team redundant while I've...

Wishbone Torque with Powerflex bushes please?

It is 9 daNm which is 90 Nm - most of the Renault pdfs have torques in daNm. 1 daNm = 10Nm. Edit: I have that same pic above from a different manual and all the torques are in daNm and the wishbone bolt is 9.

Early morning drive - Sunday 27th July, 6am (Newbury)

I'm planning on doing both. I asked the solo organiser what time I needed to be there he said by 9, first test start 9:45 ish. It is not at Barton Stacey BTW, it is Montgomery Lines down Farnborough way. Still only an hour from Newbury though.

    rs2 style inlet?

That manifold seems to come up on ebay every couple of months at the moment. There have been threads about this before and the consensus was that there isn't much money to be made. Narrow margin/low volume.

Burpspeed Version 2: Race Car Build

Sorry to hear about this Tony, hope you get it sorted without too much trouble. Chip-mk1 what's so awkward about the FAR then? I'll probably have a go a building a 220+ engine at some point myself and would like to avoid any expensive mistakes :)

    clio 182 dephaser

If you have some tools that can lock the cams and pulleys in place while you remove the pulleys and the same for putting it all back together then that should be fine. If you read the guide or renault pdf you'll see what you need to achieve. The pulleys are not locked to the cams with woodruff...
