Easier to correct that is for sure. Was swirled to hell and it was easier to correct than ther lighter dealer inflcted marring the Clio had. That said I never hit the Clio all over with a cutting pad.
Living outside I am washing it alot at the moment, still shows up the dirt like black does !
Just messing - Hope you do a few more miles in it than I have ! Enjoy it.
I know it makes sense to let it go as I will never use it. Took the GTi to work on Monday as it was just sat there on the drive looking at me, would have never done that with 182.
Aside from getting a chips away type company to retexture the plastics there is no real fix. Some of the more glossy trim dressing will help to hide them if you can put up with shiny looking plastics.
Some more progress on it so far.
Mechanically it has now got a new rad and rear exhaust box. A fair few more bits to replace cosmetically to tidy it up and have not really done much inside yet.
Started to cleanup the wheels but needed some stronger Wheel acid which is now sorted I will try...
You don't need to do the Poorboys each time you wash but yopu can do as it is so quick and easy.
Once or twice a year for the SRP and EGP and once a month maybe for the Poorboys Wheel Sealant.
Will have the water handy - Not used it since I had my 309 GTi, but it dulled the finish of them in seconds!
Luckily it is only for the very back of the wheels on the rear of the spokes and the central hub bit, cleaned the rest up with Clean Wheels, Clay and SRP.
The AG trade stuff is supposed...
I have tried everything from 10 quid waxes up to 300/400 quid ones on Silver can't see any real difference in looks. The main looks come in the Polish and Prep and even that does not so as much on Silver as it is so reflective.
I would really not spend lots of money on waxes for Silver - get...
Indeedy
My order would be:
Wash
Clay
Polish - Autoglym Super Resin
Seal - Autoglym Extra Gloss (worth getting 2 or 3 layers over a few weeks)
Wax - Meguiars #16
Classes are decided by engine size etc.
Class A (4wd up to 3500cc)
Class B (2wd 1801cc to 3500cc)
Class C (2wd 1401cc to 1800cc)
Class D (2wd up to 1400cc)
Ditto on the Engine and Machine Cleaner.
I am struggling with the wheel inners on the GTi, the Clean Wheels was working but very slowly got some Trade range Autoglym Wheel Cleaner now which is meant to be super strong and I am picking up some Wonder Wheels tommorrow to try over the weekend...
You will struggle to spot any difference in looks for waxes on Silver colours as dramatically as you will on Dark colours, go for something Durable IMO.
EGP wont bond properly to the Megs stuff so worth getting some Super Resin to use first.
I would get some Meguiars #16 as the wax choice.
