No probz, I'll give it a more thorough rubbing down next weekend.
It's been a bit if a rush job after work as I'm away at the weekend so I just wanted to get some primer on it to give it some protection.
I might have a practise run at getting a decent finish with the blue paint tonight and...
Well, this is as far as I am up to now.
I could find anything local other than kurust so after sanding down I put some of that on and allowed to dry before priming.
Metal is mega thin at the flap side but hopefully I got it just in time.
Hard bit tomorow, getting the colour on and hoping the...
Get it while you can mate, I have been putting it off for 2 years and now the metal is wafer thin where the flap bolts on
The metal on the left is still solid so it shows how much has rusted away
Cheers lads. I think we might have a rivet gun at work.
What sort of primer will I need to go on top of the rust inhibitor? Etch? Epoxy? Normal grey stuff?
Sorry I'm not too clued up on the painting business lol
Hey guys.
Finally got around to starting the fix on my filler flap rust.
So i started by drilling the 3 rivets off to get rid of the plastic cover.
Drilled the bottom bolt of the flap out and half of the top bolt so I can leave the flap on for now as it's going dark so I'll continue tomorow...
That's fair enough.
Yeh, paperwork we got says cambelt, service, mot, door dent.
Worries me about the cambelt though, i never trust dealerships who say they will put a belt on, makes you wonder if it's actually really getting done or not.
Oops, Duke lol, my bad.
Yeh it is.
I've bought a straight exit and a carbon bumper surround about 6 months ago but I'm s**t scared of cutting the bumper and making a balls of it.
Or cutting the bumper and needing a new exhaust which wouldn't fit in the cut out I'd already made lol.
Hey guys.
Today we put 500 deposit down on a 2012 Nissan duke for the wife.
I think we got him down to a fair price for a good spec car with low mialeage to be honest.
We got him to agree to get a cambelt fitted and also a small dent which will need repairing on the lower passenger side...
I wouldn't worry too much, these cars are worth next to nowt now anyway. If I was buying I'd happily buy based on a pile of receipts rather than some stamps to say it's had an oil change.
Tried both options on my old 182 Including decat with supersports straight pipe.
The best sounding by a country mile was the sports silenced centre section with decat.
I'll try and dig out my old vids, think their on youtube
I'm not expert but that looks like an earth fault to me.
Remove all earths, give the connections a good clean and reconnect.
Might be worth giving the battery a charge too as an earth fault may have caused the battery to not charge properly
Seems to move ok?
Is there a rebuild kit available? Seen the seals are available by redline (red something?? Got my front caliper rebuild kit from them can't remember the name)
The hydrolic side of things works perfect so it'd be a shame to have to get new calipers
Yeh, it's not a lack of tightness between the cable and the handle, it's just a complete lack of bite between the pad and disc.
Putting the handbrake on in the mk3 is effortless to get it to hold on a hill. In the 172 I have to pull it mega tight.
The handbrake on my 172 is shocking.
I recently fit a pair of new genuine cables and both calipers seem to function ok.
It's running oem brembos and standard disks both look in decent condition.
Are there any stickier pads out there which might improve it?
It does hold but I have to pull...
Same
Had bad experiences multiple times, never again.
Last one was the guy said to me let me know when you've set off so I can expect you, I was like yeh ok. 5 minutes before I was due to arrive he rang me saying somebody had just offered him 300 more than what I was coming to pay. Told him to...
Lol, we are getting a 5 door for her so chances of needing to put the baby in the clio won't be that often to be fair so I'm reluctant to get 2 big cars if I could make do for the odd time with the 172
Hey guys.
Got a little un on the way so am looking at options for a child seat.
I didn't think that a 172 had isofix but apparently it has? Wev also got a mk3 1.4 Clio and all the seats are clearly labelled up with little isofix tabs so I know it's got it, bu theres no such tabs on the 172...
New style has a blue plug and needs the new style harness soldering up which costs about the same as the sensor lol.
As for your problem, not sure, when my crank sensor failed the car wouldn't start at all
Ah right, both 182 and 172s I've owned have had the earth bolted just above the top intake hose so I recon yours isn't where it should be.
Tray should work providing the bolt and area are clean to give a good connection as the tray is bolted to the chassis but I'd rather easy directly to the...
I was thinking of giving my rear beam a sand down an painting and add some powerflex bushes while I'm at it so had a quick luck under to see what it involves.
Looks to me like it's a case of get the brakes off and remove the bolt on each side which goes through the Bush?
I'm sure I read...
