Very expensive for 1 spring. If your wanting to keep the oem look I'd probably go with A set of eibatch prolines.
Not sure if it's the same on a 1.2 but the rear lambda doesn't control fueling so it doesn't matter if there's a cat there or not so I think you have issues elsewhere.
Well I can confirm that 182 cables fit fine.
Rpd didn't seem too kean to sell me the cheaper 182 cables as he said they've never sold 182 cables to fit a 172 so I didn't want any issues trying to return them by going against his advice.
So i ordered them from ktec, although they were more...
Cool l, thanks.
Think I'll save the money and get a pair of 182 ones then.
I've noticed that ktec only list phase 1 cables seperate and they say a phase 2 172 and 182 use the same cable.
Will 182 cables fit a phase 2 172?
Looking on renaultparts direct and the ones listed for the 182 are 12 quid cheaper than the ones listed for the 172 but the description says 182 only.
I thought that phase 2 172 and 182 were the same
Well the left ha d cable snapped when the mot tester did the brake test so I went to eurocarparts and managed to find the cable which apparently fits.
The actual cable seems to be the correct length but the issue I'm having is the casing isn't quite long enough to allow the metal bit to locate...
Yeh they do expand.
On my 182 when I had a ktec exhaust with slash cuts i set it so when cold the pipes sat in line with the bumper, after a run they were a good inch further out.
Nothing you can do about it, one of the properties of stainless steel
Are there any basic mods I have missed here that could get me out the house to spend some time under the car without spending a fortune?
Currently got all the usual, new cup shocks, eibatch springs, SS exhaust, powerflexed front end and dogbone, rebuilt the front calipers and replaced the...
Really, that's good to know. I was worried they'd want silly money to insure a Clio that's worth sweet FA but with a bit more power.
I'll get some quotes if I ever decide to make things a bit more official later in the year
Hi guys.
I've been contemplating boosting my 172 with an ED low boost setup.
How much insurance premium increase have people on here Had to pay on a low boost setup?
I currently pay 300 for the year fully comp with all basic mods declared. Exhaust, fatty induction etc.
If insurance is...
I did mine on a Sunday and needed the car, luckily a local scrappy was open so I took my front lambda down and he found me one with the same thread so I chucked that in and chopped the wires off.
Remove lower engine cover and half way down the selector shaft there's a pinch bolt which clamps the 2 lengths of selector rod together. Loosen that and adjust till your happy with it
Recently put a cat2u one on my 172.
First thoughts were, quality looks great, fits like a glove.
Not took it for an mot with it yet so can't comment on if it's actually doing it's job, but I also can't say as I noticed much difference to when I was running a decat other than it's loads...
This.
Couldnt even tell id fit them to be honest, car felt the same as it did before.
For how much of a pain in the arse they are to fit, id only do them if your current ones are shot.
What options do we have if you want all the rust down and there's bugger all metal left?
Looked at mine today and there's plenty of rust bubbling behind the 2 main bolts.
Apparently it queitns it down a little bit inside the cabin as the noise goes straight out the back rather than bouncing back up off the road into the boot.
Weather it makes a noticeable different or not I couldn't say as I've put it on hold now till the summer.
I've purchased a pms carbon surround and one of these to do the same to mine, yet to find time to find a welder to weld the new pipe on though.
The pipe will need about 2" chopping off it or it is going to stick out too far...
A mate has a phase 1 with a shot steering column bearing and is looking at second hand ones.
Is a phase 1 column the same as a phase 2? It seems there are different ones listed but the phase 2 listed as 01-06 seem cheaper and easier to get hold of.
Sorted. Rear lambda wasn't plugged in from when I fit my new cat last week.
Strange as I was always under the impression that the rear sensor doesn't effect the running of the car. I ran my old 182 without a rear sensor plugged in for years, but that did have an rs tuner map on it if that...
