no mention of a cam/aux belt kit change there which most others would include when fitting cams. so add on another 200 for both belt kits and theres your £1000 mark.
I may be wrong though
Itl self clear when a working sensor is put in. Well mine did anyway.
Have you double checked with an oscilloscope to make sure the sensor isdefiantly not functioning properly?
It could be the wire from the front so you need to test it at the rear plug, unless you are happy to spend the...
It's about 20 quid from Renault. A garage will probz charge about an hours labour although its.a 10 minute job. If you've got a 10mm (think its 10mm) socket then you can easily do it in minutes.
However, on my old Clio 2 taking off the sensor and giving it a clean sorted out my problems.
Well I just put my cat back on for my mot made by a company called vortex which the previous owner put on. Looked them up and there only about 100 quid so it can't be the best bit of kit in the world.
It failed on emmissions, the cat looks fine and has no rattles.
Is it likely to have...
Yeh the old one was in 3 pieces when I got it off lol.
Sensor, metal collar, and plastic housing literally came apart from trying to gentley take it out, so in the end I just swung away with a hammer.
Edit, I had to drill the head off the old one as it just wouldn't budge.
Anybody know what size this torx screw is? My new sensor is coming tomorrow but the screws were out of stock
I've tried an m6 which seems to be the right thread but it goes all the way through but gets stuck when it starts to poke out the other side, an m5 isn't big enough.
I've got a janspeed supersports with a cat on and its not loud at all, so if you've got the sports with silencer and cat then itl not sound much louder than standard.
I put my cat back on the other day due to mot coming up and it sounds so boring now. However with decat its loud as hell lol.
Right ok, so the metal sleeve is actually part of the sensor.
So when the new one arrives itl look like this but with the rest of the tip of the sensor and with the sleeve already on it.
I just smashed the sleeve out with a hammer, it was a t**t to get
Will the new one come with the metal sleeve? It seems to be pressed into the hub
Also will The New one come with a new torx screw as I had to drill it off as it was rounded.
There was nothing holding this in really. It was pushed into another plastic housing which was held in by a towx screw. Then there's a metal collar pushed through the hub.
im ordering a new rear abs sensor in the morning from west renault, and i came to take my old one off tonight and this is what i found.
the sensor looks like it was held in with tape?
does the metal collar come with the new sensor or is it pressed into the hub?
Been looking at getting this app and a Bluetooth adapter as it looks pretty cool but I dunno if I'll bother if it can't read the c codes for the abs system.
Amy ideas?
same happened to me, the switches are crap.
take it out and youl get an idea of how it works. all i did was bent the metal a tad more so that the switch held in place when it clicks up or down.
or just buy a new switch i cant see em being very expensive
above the break pedal you will see it. Mines got a white connector on it but apparently they do vary in colour. It just twists and pops out and then you just need to unclip it from the plug.
Oh bugger, apparently its a different one for cars with ESP. Mine is a female connection. This part from gsf is a male. Bulls eye can get me one for 100 or its 140 from Renault.
Gutted lol.
cool thanks mick, ill let the thread know how i get on.
Looks a nightmare to get the sensor out, i managed to get the torx screw out but the sensor did not shift lol. Overnight soak with some wd40 i recon
Re: scoping abs sebsors
Cool so hopefully I can get my abs working again. I'm gonna change the brake pedal switch anyway for the sake of a Tenner, do gsf sell those aswel or am I best off going to Renault?
Also will I need the faults reset or should the ecu pick up the fact its fixed and...
Re: scoping abs sebsors
I just unplugged the sensors from their plugs next to the center section of the exhaust on the n/s of the car and put the probes from the scope in and got my dad to spin the wheel.
Re: scoping abs sebsors
Thanks. Well I've just been out with the scope. The rear right one which the diagnostics said was faulty was producing a very small wave with the scope set to 0.2v per div. Whereas the rear left was giving a full screen sine on the Same settings. So I'm going to...
Re: scoping abs sebsors
Yeh I'm thinking about getting a new switch to eliminate the fault but it appears to be working fine. (Break lights come on and off when I press the pedal). Is there something to look out for if the switch really is faulty?
OK I'll get my scope out tomorrow and...
I had my faults read for my abs/ESP service light which said it was the rear right abs sensor and the break pedal switch.
I then adjusted the break switch so that it came on at the slightest tap of the breaks but the faults are still there.
So I cleaned both rear abs sensors and tested...
Anybody?
I've also noticed a slight grinding/bumpy feeling on the break pedal when I press it while the car is moving. If I press it stationary I doesn't happen.
