Yup.
Each bit has a story so I'll explain.
Gearbox: This went on the M5 motorway about 2 months after I got the car. The box was a smooth refurb unit on about 10k miles and was starting to pop out of 5th so I was driving to get it sorted, but too late. It turns out it had been leaking...
Complete money pits tbh.
Had a MK1 1.4 RT and ok the HG went but after that it drove like a dream most days and was cheap an easy to fix.
Yet in the 10 month space I've owned the Valver it's needed:
New gearbox
New driveshaft
New power steering pump
New altenator
New engine mount
New exhaust...
Heh yee yee got to watch those wet roads.
They can be fun though, like when I was booting it off a large roundabout when it was damp and the back end started slidding out and wheels spinning then caught the back end and booted it away lol.
Lol some classics here.
Erm not really a funny story but it did piss me off something chronic.
Me: "Hi, I ordered this part a few weeks ago but when the garage came to fit it they say it's wrong. I'd like a refund please"
Dickhead1: "Ok, I'll go and see what I can do"
*10 minutes spent...
I got my recon pump from a local motor factors.
Euro Car Parts do them on their website.
Not that I've done an altenator on a 1.4 RT before, but trust me, it will be nothing like changing it on a 16v :p
Well, I'd get it done before it goes tbh dude.
Mine went on 106k miles and the steering was dangerously heavy.
Ended up getting a recon unit for £117 and then fitted for about £150 (inc a £45 new pipe too).
Tbh, if you've ever done an altenator you could probably do the PAS pump.
It...
No offence dude, but if you went and sprayed your wheels gold, printed off some Williams logos you made in Paint and put them on your car, it'd probably have about the same authenticity as if Williams did it.
Williams had no input into the Clio Williams. The suspension etc was all Renault...
Could be the RSi or a Baccara. 1.8RT wouldn't have sideskirts and was available in5dr only, for just two years (K to L reg)
Did it have leather interior? The Baccara has full leather interior with walnut effect 'B' on the front door trim.
Also, Baccara was only available in automaic in this...
Metro Motors is the place you mean Evo ^^
My dad does a lot of work for them. You mean their son Mark. Top bunch of people tbh. Rebuliding my mates Golf GTi for him :D
He (Mark) has a 172, Mk1 V6 and an Evo 8 FQ340 or whatever it is and his mum drives a 182. His dad has owned two Williams and...
Aye.
The roads are aret shoddy.
We live in a country known for it's diverese weather and sudden downpours, yet we get a few cm's of rain and the place turns into a lake.
What's the point of paying road tax? The roads are a joke.
You earn respect.
He would have a lot of respect if he'd stopped at the engine and tranny transplant.
It's a car of two halves. Blistering engine. s**t looks.
I know each to their own and all that jazz, but honestly, how could anyone except maybe Stevie Wonder see that as looking even...
Heh yer. It doesn't seem worth it at the time but it makes you feel good.
Well the P21S was my mates wax and also I ran out of steam to apply enough pressure to take the P21S off. The Meguiars is a lot easier to remove :)
Might detail the interior next weekend...
Decided I'd treat the Valver to a little bit of lovin' so spent 5 hours of saturday cleaning the exterior of the thing.
Started off by washing it down with Meguiars Gold Class shampoo and drying it, then rolled it into my friends works lock up. Auto Glym Super Resin polished the WHOLE car...
Does anyone around the South West (Devon) area fancy doing a cambelt on a Clio 16v? Or recommend a good garage? I un derstand it's not easy, but this is getting stupid.
I've got a genuine Renault cambelt kit...just need someone to fit it asap really.
One garage said they needed a special...
