aye, for the expense and hassle of fitting one (ie. not much on a 182), you could try it to see what you think yourself, selling it on if it's not your thing
read the 5.5k thing and then clicked the link - £8K!!
it'll be a mechanical disaster zone - wouldn't want to use it without rebuilding everything. and when you consider some of the others 'in the range' ('83 Sunburst, RS1600i), it's not even a desireable model:S
hate it already
aye, i thought they were really fiddly when i did mine - you've got to be careful that they're seated exactly right. clean the bar end and finger some grease into them before fitting them as well.
i think OE are Bendix (?); can't remember which they came from, but either ECP or GSF had them at £12 last time i bought some. they're the same pads that are fitted to a lot of Frenchies with the same rear calipers
mine also does this occasionally; don't know if the Ph1 is the same (?) but there's a sensor on the Ph2s that controls the idle when the PAS pump is at full load - suggestion anyway
sounds as though it could be worth checking out your PAS if it's becoming heavier (pump/fluid probs?)
ed. or...
yeah - cheap, fast car
inevitable that the 'demographic' of the owners will change as they age and become more affordable. that won't stop the 'more genuine' enthusiasts being attracted to them though - there'll always be those who are perhaps more discerning in maintaining them
something...
if you've steam coming from the rad, sounds as though it's leaking from there - could be some sort of damage to the rad core (would need to inspect it carefully for damage to the fins, although they can fail (split) without showing damage to the fins)
think it's luck with the major failures (as everyone else). feel sorry for Dr Rollo whenever i see his list!
i reckon some of the wearing parts don't have a great service life either (engine mounts for example), so, with a high miler, you're likely to be looking at spending some money on...
i think there are still plenty of people on here who look after their own cars. may be it's that the RS Clio wasn't built in the same numbers as some of the cars you've mentioned and hasn't developed the same sort of 'hands on' following (i do know what you mean. think i do anyway). it'll...
had to collect one of these (Recorded Delivery) from the PO this morning - thought it was either either going to be a NIP or a paranoid Valentines
reading it, it says that Renault recommend using penetrating oil and silicone grease to lube the mech, whereas i'd been using white grease...
taste some on the end of a finger - guessing it'll either be grease or manure
grease, you need to find the source and reseal
manure, probably just need a glass of milk or something
how are the decat and system pipes connected? is it a sleeve or a flange (etc)?
are you using a gasket if it's a flange fitting? and have you tried silicone sealant yet?
seems about right. someone i use locally only charges a fiver for change overs and i get the tracking done elsewhere (Protyre - £25). going to vary depending upon where you go but £40 should easily do it
depends where you have it done; could ring round a few but would have thought about £10 per change-over/balance/valve/disposal and about £20-£30 for tracking sound fairly typical
it's worth taking it somewhere discerning for the tracking as some places can and do make a mess of it
i've used those flexis before to replace problematic knuckle joints on manis and they are an improvement. don't know how much room there is around the termination point of the 182's mani, but cutting the bellmouth off it and TIG'ing on the flexi (keeping a length on the other end so that you can...
sounds as though they're coming through now (hopefully mine will arrive tomorrow in time for some w/e spannering), but would also be grateful for a quick PM
thanks

don't know if that's the same site you've looked at but it might reassure you - the 2.0RS is listed against SXR there. Excellium seems to be 0/30 now - guess they've re-jigged the range?
i think i was dealer advised..
i've used it for a couple of changes now and it's fine; i think the label does say something along the lines of it having been formulated for common rail diesel engines, but that it's specified for both petrol and diesel
