there is a chance that you only need bleed the one line (or may be also the other in that circuit) but, for the minimal hassle of bleeding all four, you may as well
think the book bleeding order is NSR (as it's furthest from the MC), OSF (as it's a diagonally split system), OSR, NSF
DOT4...
aye - i know all this safety gubbins is there to protect but it adds a bunch to the cost of sorting things out after anything like this.
there are some helpful replies in a thread about these PTs that i started the other day that might also help you; linky -...
assuming this is a Clio -
if your front passenger seat wasn't occupied, the belt will be fine as the PT is in the belt clip on the inside of the seat
if the rears weren't occupied, they'll likely also be OK - they will have been pulled taught by any tensioners but won't have had xx kg to...
sounds as though you've got a bit of damage to deal with anyway but, yes, should renew the seatbelt pre-tensioners. two of mine went off earlier in the week and i'm currently trying to sort them as cheaply as possible; apart from the pre-tensioners, you also need to have the airbag ECU resetting...
more, sorry
doddle to remove the front PT and the airbag computer, but i've momentarily stumbled with the rear
the PT mech seems to be fitted with 5 point security screws (haven't any bits - will have to go shopping tomorrow); leading on from that, i was looking at a thread on search...
assume that will have been the case. my excess is likely to be a fair bit more than the cost (as far as i can see so far) of my doing it all myself, so think i'm edging towards that at the moment
thanks for the replies here by the way
mine does appear to have individually pre-tensioned rears as only the passenger side belts have gone off. ?
when you say the computer should be replaced if four devices have deployed, is that during the one event? (as i suspect some accident history to my car)
took me a while to figure out what you meant, but lol
tis genuine - i even went back to remove the rock to save anyone else. you should have seen it - it was a boulder!
great - cheers for that.
msisleman - i'm assuming that's just the pretensioner gubbins; part number i was given is 8200239673
harry - aye, the plastic trim has exploded on mine, too. i can't see any other damage to the seat but wonder what might be hidden.
this still doesn't answer your question, but to tell which you've got, you need to scrabble around underneath - there should be a sticker on the bottom of the body of the rack that will identify it as either a SMI or a TRW rack
they're about £400 new but you can have them reconditioned for...
ah! hello chap
whereabouts was that? do recall hearing some tooting today but think i was doing my rounds and was therefore concentrating on the complexity of my task
i thought they were but would wait for a confident reply from someone who actually knows
there are certainly at least two types for the 172 though - SMI or TRW. not sure if they're interchangeable.
i did wonder if it was just 'the Renault way'. don't suppose you've the name of any of these UK reprogrammers?
also, wondering why i'd need to replace both front pre-tensioners if only the one has fired
ok.. my local dealer has told me that i need to replace both front pre-tensioners, but only the one rear. they've also said that the computer must be replaced and cannot be reset
the pre-tensioners are actually surprisingly reasonable (F/£70ea, R/£40) but the computer is £180 and labour for...
mine (Dec' 02) doesn't have an RS inlet either (does anyone know if there was a period of production during which they were fitted, or is it a random parts bin job?)
(^) to check for them, you need to remove the fuel rail guard - there'll be a big 'R S' cast in the lower inlet if you've got...
i do have protected no-claims, so that's an option i might look into (would rather not, though, given there's no other damage - it's an irritation that they've gone off and are likely to be expensive to restore 'properly')
is the car immobile whilst this airbag ECU is off and in Germany?
mains should be H1, but whip one out to check as not sure if they're different between models
i went with the Halfords two for one offer (Super Brilliance? they're alright anyway). still, almost cried as i handed over £35 for headlamp bulbs
i ran over a rock (cunningly disguised as slush, the f*cker) earlier on and now have a number of problems; just looking for a little advice.
having had a good look at the suspension, i think all's well (apart from a buckled Turini; got a spare though) and it seems to drive OK so i'm hoping...
is it not possible it's just the rear chamber of the servo filling with atmosphere as the piston travels down it?
or is that inaudible? i'm sure it's been audible in some of the cars i've driven; will have to see if i can hear mine in the morning
as the guys above. it's the main reason i tried a decat - to see if it would stop the flatulence - which it did (although the decat made so much noise with the system i've got, i decided to go back to using the cat).
don't know if you noticed when you took your cat off, but there was quite a...
