as well as changing the fluids (etc), don't forget the inspection service - just as important as the parts changes IMO. the full Renault schedule is in the service booklet but i can rattle it off on the keyboard and put it up here if you've not got it
well, if the canister doesn't provide the engine with enough air, it'll obviously affect the power output.
no one is going to be able to confirm that the random airbox you've got in your shed will work or not - you're going to have to fit it to find out or post up detail about its dimensions...
i don't think anyone's going to be able to answer that unfortunately - it's impossible to assess how much more your car might be worth second-hand with a full dealer service history vs. what you might save by servicing it yourself (or by having it serviced at an indie specialist). if you're...
i service my own and will happily do anything with the suspension or brakes (in particular) but would rather entrust an indie specialist with jobs like the cambelt.
as said, it's peace of mind and a significant saving - it's also a really good way to get to know your car - not always a good...
this one came up the other day when i was looking for Mk1 RS2000s: http://www.cg-cars.com/forum/gallery/files/3/1/1/escort_005_smallts.jpg
looks lovely
amazing stuff - need balls of steel to punt something *really* fast up a hill like that. our little hillclimbs don't compare at all but some of the cars used are still extremely quick and you've really got to admire the skill and 'bravery' involved in chucking them up the very narrow, banked...
^ i like the sound of that - thanks. in that case, i might ask a local specialist for a first hand opinion (to be sure it's nothing else) and then consider leaving it be until the gearbox breaks again.. (!)
ta
it does disappear when depressing the clutch and i did wonder if it could be the release bearing (certainly sounds like a bearing spinning in its race).
are clutch release bearings available cheaply on their todd? presume it would be another g'box out job? (had a new g'box 3 months ago..)...
in the continuing folly that is Cup ownership, i have noticed a new noise. joy.
it sounds engine/gear/clutch related and is only apparent whilst off-throttle. i know it's always difficult to describe peculiar noises, let alone offer a diagnosis over t'internet, but it sounds like a bearing...
i can live with the chips, scratches and dents, but the mechanical reliability of the thing has been a disappointment - very poor compared with the Peugeot i had beforehand
not sure what Renault might call it; they might not sell them seperately either - probably only as a kit or with the pads
you can buy kits over the counter from High St parts stockists - they generally include the bar, retaining clip and the pad springs - might be a cheaper option
a split...
i've a 'whistle' from the engine at over 5,000rpm that has been diagnosed as the dephaser
also a 'rattle' from the exhaust above 4,000 rpm - it's apparently likely to be loose baffles in one of the boxes and is a common problem
whereabouts are you in Glos? if you're at all local to me...
i can't remember what the complex is called but it's the big one opposite the entrance to your workshop - on the road with all of those cr*ppy speedbumps (!)
you weren't to know this but this crops up a lot - try the search function for lots of views (and squabbling)
if you're still undecided after reading from search, test drive a couple of each and go from there
welcome by the way - and good luck with it
i've used them before and must admit that i'm of the opinion that they're not worth the expense; not sure about the arguments suggesting that they don't filter as well as OE paper elements (re. oiled cotton) but i just can't be rs'd to wash and re-oil the things and, for the sake of a tenner...
guess we'll never know! must admit that i'm not much of a waver myself either - might keep a discrete nod at the ready though
lemonnobby - are you at City Motors? my bro's in the unit just down from you guys
i live in Yate, work in Winterbourne and my brother has an industrial unit in Kingswood that i've visited recently; someone in a silver FF with a private plate followed me from Yate to W/bourne in the week - but then there seem to be quite a few RS Clios of various colours round these parts
