^ but that's the way powerful 4wd cars tend to be - they understeer if you get on too early (he understeered straight into the 106 in the previous incident). he does seem shabby in comparison with some, but he's just as much right to learn how to race as anyone else imo - just needs to sit down...

not had a look for a few months but i think there's a section in the back of EVO mag that lists different car's times around the same track. i might have the wrong source but i *think* they figured the 197 quicker (due to chassis) by 2-3 seconds - an age in terms of competitive driving but...

some will be better than others. basic advice is, don't think you've 'serviced' your car after having changed the fluids/filters/plugs - lots more to be doing!

IMO, if you're going to be servicing your own car and want to do it thoroughly, you should be looking at the published schedule (at the least) rather than trying to put together a random list of jobs on an internet forum. if you've not got the service book, i can offer to send you a photocopy...

road and/or track? some otherwise good road tyres aren't much cop on track. i'd go with the Paradas myself (for either) but then i like Yokohamas

they do seem to move around a fair bit but when you say 'brand new', have you run your tyres in yet? (as they'll be slippery until they've got a couple of hundred miles under them)

seems to be a luck thing IMO. mine broke at less than 40k, contributory factor being the suspicion that it had been run low on oil at some point (second hand=gamble) - they're apparently prone to leaking which won't help.. people are always quick to defend the gearbox if they've not had...
