Aye, they are divets chaps. They were proper beat when I got them. £140 for the pair, so I thought I’d take a gamble on them.
Should be tidy enough when mounted though (y)
MS Engineering.
They were proper knackered when I bought them and were cheap for a reason. Looked like they’re been kicked around the blokes garage for a few years, hence why the inner caliper has some heavy chunks out of it/chunks out of the mounting area. As long as it mounts fine, and stops...
Took it out for a drive for the first time in a week or two today and this popped up after round 20 miles. (Brother took this pic from the passenger seat, not me!)
Stuck in limp mode and limited to 2.5krpm. Plugged the code reader in and nothing came up. The previous owner changed the...
Ive got the Ktec sports cat on mine and it passed its MOT no problems. It’ll be going in for it’s second MOT with it on next month, so I’ll keep you posted.
I’ve only done around 3000 miles in the car with it fitted but no issues so far. I’ll admit that I’m thinking about swapping back to a...
Cheers mate!
I’m sure I’ve seen yours at Rentec before. Lovely car and bloody mint too. I’m down in the borders but up in Edinburgh a fair amount so will keep my eyes peeled.
Rentec are a top bunch of guys. Nothing is ever a hassle for them either.
Not good for the bank balance though, haha!
There are a couple of options for the machining mate. PMS will do it for £60(I think), but they will only machine them when they have a batch to machine for stock, so no individual sets of calipers.
Max at M.S Custom Engineering can also machine...
Cheers chaps!
Yeah, the metallic colours that Renault had for the 182’s are really underrated. RB seems to get all the love!
Got everything back from the blasting company. The rear beam was blasted and then hit with some zinc primer, as well as the hubs. I didn’t want to powder coat as I can’t...
Bump.
Do these come in a one size fits all for the 182/172 or are there different specs for cup packed vs non-cup packed cars?
I’m in need of a new set for some refurbished hubs and I’m about the pull the trigger on the ones @Romanian Tyre Fitter linked above, but want to double check they fit...
I went round and went over all the black trim with GTechniq C4 to restore them.
The window seals, aerial, splitter and exhaust surround were also done.
Full sad b*****d mode here. The exhaust tips were looking a little grim. 10 minutes with some brasso and some polish and they are looking...
Another small update!
The bank holiday weekend was red hot so I thought I’d spend the day detailing and sorting a few bit.
Managed to finally change the bonnet sensor and fit my expansion cap without losing them this time:rolleyes:
It’s been around 6 months since I last waxed it, so the...
Progress has been slow on the Clio over the past few weeks as I’ve been enjoying driving it far too much.
Took it up to the bodyshop just outside of Edinburgh and they seem bloody good. A huge amount of seriously impressive machinery in the bays from classic 911’s, Merc SL’s to the newer stuff...
I gave the car a once over today while the weather was dry-ish.
I finally got round to oiling the foam air filter. Forgot to take pics of this as it’s sticky stuff and not all that exciting haha.
Found my engine cover and stuck it on and quickly cleaned the engine bay.
Before (when I bought...
Update!
Max has got my calipers, so they’ll be machined and refurbed in the coming weeks. I did think about painting them a stupid colour but they are going to be staying boring and sliver (y)
I got the tracking sorted and everything aligned by a decent local garage. On the drive up, my...
I removed my brothers back seats in his Clio last week and the same thing happened. Took a grinder to it and ground it flush.
Interested to see how you get on with the extractors though as mine has also been snapped by the pervious owner.
Ahhh well in that case, give it a miss. That’s a fair trek for a car you’re not dead set on.
Hopefully a decent RB comes up for sale soon as plenty of people are getting bored of lockdown projects haha.
It’s a tough one. Like others have said, unless you can have a good look around it, the rust will most likely be worse that the pics.
Most will have a few scabs now but if you have no issues paying out to repair it the go for it. Maybe try and knock the seller down on the price to make it work?
Yeah, they are growing on me. I think once the ducting is in, it’ll be better.
Aye, I’ve heard about Mr Pink Pins. I’ll have to pick up a set once I’m ready to fit my Brembos. Admittedly I don’t think the original pins have been removed for a while but I’ll hit them with some heat and soak...
Final few bits done today before the alignment on Monday.
My bass ports arrived for the brake ducts. These are huge! Possibly too big actually, so I’ve got some 3D printed ones ordered and I’ll see which ones I like best.
I did have to hack the arse out of my fog mounts to fit the bass ports...
Minimal pics of the progress on the rear as it was a nightmare to seat the car on jack stands with my current rear jacking points.
I chucked them under the rear beam mounting points and hoped for the best.
Both sides went on without too much hassle. The top mounts are tough to get on though...
Managed to get the the rest of the suspension on over the weekend. Took the time to clean the arches and paint a few bits to keep things looking fresh - mainly the gearbox end cover and the metal bars the arch liners clip into.
I also sorted the binding brakes. The rears wear spot on, it was...
The centre of the wheel where the bolt holes are and centre cap fits in is far more ‘dished’ on the genuine Renault Turinis.
I’ve got aftermarket Turinis and they almost look flat compared to the genuine Renault ones. You don’t have to run spigot rings either.
Just an update on this If anyone needs it in the future.
PMS will do the machining for their brackets but they will only machine when they have a batch of calipers to do. I think it’s about £60 total.
Max at MS customs also does the correct machining for the PMS brackets. No idea on price but...
Hi chaps,
Does anyone know the correct torque setting for the two bolts at the base of the front dampers - they bolt to the hub.
Ive trawled through the guides here but some say 105nm for the top bolt and either 140nm or 180nm for the bottom bolt.
Any clarification would be grand (y)
That is unbelievably clean. Looking forward to see how this turn out as I’ve a soft spot for OEM+ cars.
You must have the only Clio with a decent fuel filler area!
