I use 2nd and 3rd gear on the slip road so that I'm doing over a tonne by the time I get on the motorway! I slow down to 70-80 after that but it's a perk I enjoy. People don't expect you to be coming off the slip road that fast.
Anyone had their alloys refurbed? I've got standard 16" mk2 172 alloys. No face scuffs but slight curb marks around much of the edges on 2 and to a lesser extent on the other two. They just look a bit scruffy and the finish is a little bit tarnished.
Ideas on prices? Anyone had good or bad...
Renault Manchester always supply me with a car any time it is in for at least the best part of a day. The only thing is you have to book them about 2 weeks in advance, you can't have them without notice as they're always in use.
My cigar lighter wasn't working and I had to turn the head unit off manually just as you'v described, it was the fuse so it does sound like this is your problem. Nice easy fix though. Take one next time you have a courtesy car to replace your spare :) I took one out of my mum's scenic just...
The head unit and the cigar lighter work off the same fuse. Make sure the fuse hasn't blown as this will
a)stop the cigar lighter working at all
b)stop some functionality of your head unit
I've got 41k miles on the clock. Had 16k on the clock when I got it but I've had no problems with exhaust so far. Luck of the draw I guess. I've had ECU replaeced, air con leak and knackered wheel arch liner instead though. I've just got my car back from the garage, it's had new anti-rll bushes...
To lighten the mood, I'll tell you all about my first install in first ever car, a Rover Metro. I made a parcel shelf from mighty thick MDF and stuck four 6x9's in it and ran them all off a Sony HU! Now that's sound on a budget :D
They had a new clio all tarted up with sporty looking bits on display in my local renault. It wasn't for sale so I dunno what it was for. I've also seen the new clio styling catalogue from renault. From both of these I can imagie what the new RS will look like, and it's fairly average...
Re: MPG and tire wear on 172/182's
I do a fair bit of motorway driving.
42 mpg @ 70-75 mph
38mpg @ 80 mph
33mpg @ 85-90 mph
Plus I'm just over half way through a set or Pirelli P-Zero Nero's (195/45/16) and I've done 18k in them. I try my best not to wheelspin as it gets you nowhere and...
Don't go for the 182 or the new RS Clio. The 182 is too similar to the 172 you already have to be bothering with. You'll have to wait ages for the new RS Clio and I bet it'll be pricey (£16k or even more maybe?). What you should do is get yourself to motorpoint and get yourself a new megane...
I dunno mate. It happens on my 172 also. I've heard other people say it happens on theirs. It happened when I first took it for a test-drive, I asked what it was and the salesman pretended he didn't hear me. I should've asked again. ...guess I was too excited.
It's meant to move? I'm surprised. Is that gap really supposed to be there? It so looks like there shouldn't be a gap underneath it. If it's supposed to have a gap, you'd think the gap is of fixed size? But I can see marks in the dirt underneath the disc where it has touched. Help me! The car...
My last car was a 1.6 16v 52-reg Megane which I had from new. Only mods I did to increase performance were a twin cone Green induction kit and a Powerflow custom s/s exhaust from the cat back. My car also hit 60 in second gear without a remap. The improvements to air flow definitely helped...
I found I get poor starting more when I fill with petrol. I drive my car to the station, fill up, pay, go to start. Fails to start first time, VERY embarassing! But I've also found it doesn't do it if I turn the key to on for a few seconds, then start it up. (I guess that's what you meant too)
Hi I've been getting a similar problem recently. I took a renault technician out in it and he claimed he couldn't hear anything but I didn't want to book my car in. (just one full month without booking my car in, please god, please). Well I think I finally found the cause this morning! A few...
