My guts tells me its the box so I'm going to prepare for that, ill get someone to have a proper look at it and go from there I think. Any ideas how much rebuilt one is likely to cost me?
Yeah I agree wouldn't trust a used box as it seems gearbox'S aren't a strong point on the 1*2's.
Unsure. I used Birchdown last time I had a problem as they are closest so was going to give them a bell and get them to have a look although I'm unsure if they do gearbox's or not.
I'm asking you guys what the possibilities are?
The noise disappears when you put the clutch in plus I've read that the gearboxes aren't great in the 1*2's.
Hi
My 182 seems to have developed a droning noise (I'm saying droning as its too low pitched to be a whine) and I'm a bit worried that it could be the gearbox on its way out. :(
Its most noticeable in 5th after 3K RPM but does die off as the revs rise. Its also noticeable in 4th around 4K RPM...
I'd say the sold prices are probably £500 less than that. You might pay £4k for a low mileage one in a desireable colour or you might be able to pick up a higher mileage silver or artic blue 182 for nearer £3k. You're correct the used prices are insane ATM it's a lot of car for the money. I...
Boooo to the sticker bombing and the blue lights.

Thats the splitter you're after.
I paid £650 for a policy cancelled it 2 months later and just under £300 back. I'm not saying its not in your T&C's. I'm just advising the OP to go elsewhere because of my experiences.
I am however positive that no one verbally disclosed the cancellation policy to me when I took it out...
Admiral are pretty good IMO, i havent had to claim yet but they have always been fair with refunds / changes to the policy and you can normally haggle over any changes too.
I'm with Admiral.
I could have maybe got it a little bit cheaper through a Broker but got ripped off when I had to cancel a policy I had through Sky insurance so avoid them like the plague. (well at least if there is a possibility you might cancel or change car)
I'm 23 with 5 years NCB, with...
no haven't needed to claim think it was just accident history, stolen recovered, finance, if it's had a plate change and a VIN check for £4. To get a certificate and details of plate change you have to upgrade it to a £10 one.
Best thing to do would be go to a specialist or someone who know what they are doing.
You'll be looking at about £600 for both belts and a new dephaser pulley, you might find the timing is out and that's why you are having flat spots.
Just got mine today. Must say the quality is very good. Cost me twice as much as my last set of plates but are twice the quality. The last plates seemed to have been made up completely differently.
Ah cheers.
I had a look at the cars history on here and in 2007 it was for sale saying they had started peeling so needed replacing and as they aren't peeling now I assumed they got replaced straight away.
Ill leave them for now as I'm really undecided still :S
Car is going well BTW :)
