182 not starting - Solid red light

So the 182 has been stood a few weeks, due to the gearbox needing a rebuild, and wasn't used much over the winter. Planning on pulling the gearbox off this weekend, so decided to start the car to make sure everything else was ok. Nope. Will not start. I've got a solid red light on the dash. If...

    Gearbox removal

I've been looking at this a little more tonight, and whilst I'll need an engine crane for my mx5 engine at some point. It seems like it possible to pull the gearbox out the passenger side wheel well. Just need to remove the hub, and disconnect the ARB to create the room. Don't even need to lower...

Is this a genuine 182 cat?

I bought a magnaflow universal cat, last year and had it welded to a miltek decat pipe. The magnaflow has a 25k mile emissions warranty. Not sure on time limits as when I check quickly checked nothing came up quickly.

    Gearbox removal

My requirements changed quite a lot yesterday, the Clio was going to be a slower project, I'd intended on cleaning things up and replacing bushes etc, and treating any rust and painting etc. So I'd have had time to remove the subframe and get it powder coated, etc. But my MX5 engine started...

    Gearbox removal

So I'm needing to get the gearbox rebuilt on my 182 Cup, is it best to pull the engine and box out the top of the car, or drop the subframe and remove the box only out the bottom. I've not got an engine crane, so would need to factor in renting one for removal and again for installing, so cost...

    ***How much is it worth?***

Personally i think £2k would be on the high side of it's worth. Depending on the condition, ie dent size, rust, etc, and how much needs doing to get it back on the road. If it is genuinely tidy and just needs a small dent pulling out. I guess it could be worth a little more to the right person...

    Power Tool Perverts

I know the Milwaukee is better, it's quite a bit more powerful. I guess for a home mechanic working on my own cars, what I'm asking is will the cheaper Dewalt do everything I'll ever need it too, or will I need to get the breaker bar out every now and then for stubborn rusted hub bolts say? To...

    Power Tool Perverts

No the link i posted was including 2 5Ah batteries and charge. I guess the extra £50 is probably worth it for the warranty though over the 3 years. So, is the Milwaukee worth £150 more than the Dewalt? haha

    Power Tool Perverts

Thinking about upgrading my Ryobi impact wrench. Is the high torque Milwaukee worth the extra £100 or so over the Dewalt DCF899? Also is this a good price...

    Is my gearbox knackered?

No worries mate, I just thought you may of missed it. I guess once the weather starts to warm up i'll look to pull it all apart, and ship it off to be rebuild.... well depending on cost anyway. I know it's difficult to access pricing without opening it up. But what do you usually charge for a...

    Is my gearbox knackered?

@NorthloopCup Any thoughts mate? Volume need to be pretty loud to hear the humming noise. The gearbox on my mr2 sounded similar, just much louder and that ended up being the main bearings, hence me thinking the box is goosed. I'm just confused why it would happen after putting in the Redline...

    Is my gearbox knackered?

Sorry for the delay. The noise is definitely louder and more noticeable today.

    Is my gearbox knackered?

Couple videos from in the car. Hard to hear the noise with the engine at higher revs. But can her the noise when at low revs and speed.

    Is my gearbox knackered?

I didn't really notice anything whilst driving to be honest. Maybe a very slight rotational noise, but nothing to suggest something was wrong. It wasn't until I was rolling into the drive with no load that the noise seemed off. And it drove perfectly, I'll try and take some video from in the...

    Is my gearbox knackered?

I replaced the fluid a few weeks ago with Red Line MT90 GL4. First proper drive out in it today with the weather being rubbish for so long and lockdown, etc. Didn't notice too much when driving to be honest. But when pulling up onto the driveway there was definitely a new noise I'd not heard...

    Motamec seats

I Tried a load of seats out at GSM's showroom in Cotgrave Nottingham. At the time I really liked the Mirco seats they stocked, though I can't recall which one it was, either the GT or RTS as it was sub £300 each. However, I ended up cheaping out and going for the Clubsports for £350 a pair at...

    Oldest game you still play?

I've still got unreal tournament on my work laptop. Released in 1999. I've had it on all my pc/laptops since the early 2000's. My first proper job, we used to play over the company server at lunch time for upto 2 hours. Can't remember the last time I played it, but it's still awesome

Changing gearbox oil good or bad idea?

With how much these boxes leak, how often do people typically go between refilling/changing. I last had mine done almost 3 years ago (approx 20k) when i purchased the car, and I'm thinking about switching it out for Red Line MT-90 75W90 GL-4. My first 182 had a leaky box, and failed due to...

    Better Exhaust

I had an earlier scorpion exhaust in the past and hated it at higher cruising speeds because of the drone. I've now got one of the older Ktec Janspeed exhaust (smaller 2.25") systems and it doesn't drone at all. I've run this with a standard cat, decat and now custom sports cat, as well as...

    Black series poly bushes

I seem to recall the purple Powerflex having a lifetime warranty, whereas the black doesn't (probably because it's aimed towards motorsport). So something to consider too

    Engine spluttering and running rich

Had this a couple of times (most recently a couple weeks ago) and was a single injector as noted above. Think Renparts sell genuine injectors for about £33 each. They were on amazon recently for £27 but keep fluctuating in price. Anything cheaper than that is unlikely genuine and may cause...

    problems with catalyst clio 182

This is what put me off too. I went with a Magnaflow custom 200 cell cat and got it welded into a Milltek decat pipe. The parts cost me about £110 at the time plus the welding cost on top. I've just checked the warranty, the ebay ad advises a life time warranty on the cat, but seems like...

RB 182 Cup - keeping this one

Also forgot that this weekend just gone, i fitted a vibra technic upper gearbox mount, as the standard mount was feeling a little sloppy, and it was affecting gear changes at higher revs. I already had a powerflex black insert upper engine mount, and purple dog bone mount, this was the last one...

RB 182 Cup - keeping this one

I've been meaning to start a project thread for this car for some time now. I bought the car in March 2018, and it's changed a few times since then in terms of usage as it was originally my only car, replacing a Z4 3.0i. It was then a second car when I bought a MR2 Roadster, but that only last 6...

Vibra technics gearbox mount doesn't fit?

Managed to get the correct part, fortunately after a poor response email (basically implying the part sent was correct, even though i sent pictures to prove it was wrong), I got a phone call from the company, and they were very helpful. And because we're both in Nottingham, they had the part...

    The New Phone Thread

Wife has a Pixel 5. I'd originally bought her a Oneplus Nord, but she didn't like a few minor things to do with the OS system and how it did things compared to her P30. So sent it back and she ordered the Pixel 5 instead. She seems much happier with it to be honest. Still waiting on the...

Vibra technics gearbox mount doesn't fit?

Ordered from eBay last week when they had an offer on. I ordered from the seller with the quickest delivery, as wanted it for this weekend. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renault-Clio-2-172-182-Vibra-Technics-Transmission-Mount-Fast-Road-REN200M-/110843260715?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292 I've...

Vibra technics gearbox mount doesn't fit?

Cheers guys for confirming. I know designs can sometimes change, and advert pictures aren't always of the actual item. Weird that the part number is correct though.
