Tyres with stiff walls for 15" - Recommations?

Just messaged him for a set. For £130 posted I'll give them a go

Tyres with stiff walls for 15" - Recommations?

100% the tyres. Suspension is cup shocks with eibach springs and all checked ok, and handling issues have only arrisen since fitting these wheel and tyre combo. You can literally feel the tyres flexing if you go into a corner with anything bordering spirited driving. So the front end kinda...

Tyres with stiff walls for 15" - Recommations?

I may do one or two track days a year and as you say, they'd be wasted as road tyres. I'm starting to feel I may have made a poor choice in alloy size

Tyres with stiff walls for 15" - Recommations?

I was going to go with the PS3s, but someone mentioned (on the thread I'm having a proper winge about the RS5s on) that the PS3s may not be much better than the RS5s in terms of stifnesss. I really don't want to fork out for another set of tyres just to find myself in the same situation 🤷

Tyres with stiff walls for 15" - Recommations?

I know tyres get done to death, but, I'm having issues with my new 15" 2118s that came with Rainsport 5's as the tyre wall on them is way too soft and causing me handling problems. Without going down trackday tyre route (888, NS2R, AD08's etc) what is there out there that has good grip and...

    Uniroyal Rainsport 5

Surprised to hear you dont rate the PS3s, they typically get a good rep. Though the same can be said of the Rainsports I guess! Just had a look at the AD08rs and it's circa £600 fitted after a very quick look. Can't find PS4s in my tyre size, but I will also look at Eagle F1s and see if I can...

    Uniroyal Rainsport 5

I'm running these on a turbo converted F4R, so I guess the extra power will only exasperate any tyre weakness.

    Uniroyal Rainsport 5

Good to see it's not me being paranoid lol. With expectations, I expected the tyre walls not to be made of chocolate or perhaps some sort of soft cheese 😉🤣

    Uniroyal Rainsport 5

What size tyres are you running out if curiosity? It may be that the 15s with a a higher tyre wall are less stable than 16scwith a lower profile. I'd read some good reviews on these, and I agree they're cheap, but damp road grip is shocking (another member on here said his 888r tyres were...

    Uniroyal Rainsport 5

Rears suss is all good: Cup shocks fitted 24 months ago with Eibach Proline springs. Had a good look anyway, but it's all good. I'll be booking in with F1 for PS3s fitted for £288 all in. Bit of an annoyance but I can't live with the detached/wobbly feeling the Rainsport 5s give 🤷

    Uniroyal Rainsport 5

Thread bump! I've got Rainsport 5s fitted on my 2118s so 195 50 15's......I absolutely detest them 😒 The side wall is made of chocolate I think. If I put my car into a corner the back end literally wobbles round. I genuinely thought there was an issue with my suspension. Wet grip is also not...

    Clio 182 Turbo

Genuinely felt very dicey on damp/greasy roads. On tight corners, if you really stuff it in, as above, it gives a weird 'pogo' effect to the point I've been round to check my suspension because I thought something was wrong with it. I'm on cup shocks with eibach proline springs, so not a...

    Clio 182 Turbo

I've just got Rainsport 5s on my 2118s, and I I kinda agree with you. I'd read some good reviews but grip on damp roads is dicey at best and as you say, the tyre walls do flex a fair bit and give a bit of a pogo effect when really pushing on in the corners. I'm quite disappointed in them tbh

    172/182 Cup Spoiler Brake Light

Ah, I appreciate the offer but that's a little more ££ than I can justify on a light tbh. I've rescued the lense on mine, although the LEDs are fried. I'll put a new LED strip in there which has worked for a few people from what I've read 😁

But if you fancy letting me have yours.....🥰🥰

    172/182 Cup Spoiler Brake Light

They're rarer than hens teeth! Definitely not manufactured anymore by Renault. I spent most of the day phoning various Renault dealers, specialists and Renault Clio breakers......not a sausage, no new old stock, no second hand ones nada! On a plus note I've got my brake light out, and can...

    172/182 Cup Spoiler Brake Light

I'm trying to find a brake light for a 172/182 Cup Spoiler. Bought a Cup spoiler recently and just got round to testing the brake light, which is dead as dodo. I know you can retrofit LED strips into the existing lense, but I don't think the brake light is going to come out in one piece (I've...

    Clio 172 Turbo - decat?

The afr's aren't on the limit, so I'd like to say there's wiggle room for running a little leaner if that's what the decat would do without a map, but I'm far from an expert in these things! As you say, I'll see what EFI say. I got offered a decat for a very reasonable price, though I may opt...

    Clio 172 Turbo - decat?

I appreciate putting the cat back on for MOT time is always gonna be a ball ache but hoping putting the decat on will free her up a bit. Ive emailed Chris at EFI but being the holiday period, I've yet to receive a response!

That's a good result! SRR typically read quite low (accurate?)

    Clio 172 Turbo - decat?

I've done some reading on here but nothing specific to a boosted 172 that I can see. Question: My 172 Turbo was mapped at EFI with standard cat in place. Would it benefit from a decat as it stands?

    Clio 182 Turbo

When I removed my engine, both shafts came out. You might be able to leave them in place, but it's so tight for room in the engine bay, I removed as much as I could to make life easier......was still a ball ache though! Mines out again in the new year to fix the leaking selector seal and put...

    Clio182 vs Megane250

That's pretty much my thoughts. The Clio is like a mad jack Russell, certainly quick and handles well. To my mind though, the Mégane RS 250/265/275 have a decade of handling advancements in them which would (should) allow them to handle power better.....if that makes sense. Currently though...

    Clio182 vs Megane250

I've recently turbo'd my Clio 172 which made 240.4hp on EFIs rollers. It's hilarious fun giving serious consideration to letting it go later next year in favour of a Mégane 250/265, based purely on having a more modern car. Any thoughts?

    Clio 182 Turbo

Totally agree with this 👍 I could have given my car to ED and had a boosted Clio a week later, but half the fun was doing it myself....though likewise, I sometimes questioned my sanity lol. I'm more than happy with mine at 240bhp and would imagine an extra 60 ponies would make it hilariously...

It's hilarious to drive.....I'm very much enjoying it. More so once I fit a clutch that can handle the extra oomph lol

    ED Low boost conversion advice

Had a good chat with Chris at EFI about a similar route but for me 240hp is plenty for the lil' Clio, but I'll watch for your new build with interest!

    ED Low boost conversion advice

Steve, did you get your cars map tweaked? First pull on EFIs Dyno on their off the shelf flash made 211hp on mine. Chris 'found" a further 29hp and sorted the bad idlle which turned out to be a duff injector. Defo worth doing.
