15° out.
Geo done, but still getting traction control kicking in 🙄
Just wondering if the pattern abs sensor I fitted is not so good.
Got a new genuine renault one, so will fit that and see what's what
Turns out there's a metal adapter bush in the hub where the track rod end goes in.
It'd got stuck on the old trackrod that I'd binned without knowing what it was.
All fixed now!
Yeah, i had the old one off and laid one on top of the other just to make sure.
I'll double check everything as it does fit the symptoms of a loose wishbone
Not a clio, as i sold my 172 in favour of the Meg 250.
All been well until now...
So a long story short, my brembos jammed on and cooked a caliper and damaged the rubber on the ball joints.
I've replaced the wishbone, the top and bottom ball joints and abs cable with pattern parts.
The...
Don't touch the KTR one if you're planning on road use.
I had one and at the MOT centre the emissions were near identical to a full decat (and yes, it was red hot!)
KTECs are designed as a box ticking exercise for the clio race series and literally do nothing to emissions.
I haven't had a Cobra...
I put a new CPS on it when I turbo converted it 3 years or so ago. But, it's still on the original connector.
Just find it odd that it was running until I changed to the genuine renault cos, then nada 🤷
I'll do as you suggest and replace the connector too and take it from there.
Appreciate...
Yes mate.
The top ends been off for new catcam springs, so it's all new gaskets, belts, dephaser etc etc.
Running after bolting it back together, just hunting at idle when cold and stuttering after a gentle throttle blip
Clio 172 phase 2 (turbo)
My car was starting and running but was hunting when cold and a gentle throttle blip would make the revs drop, hunt then go back to normal, but improved once up to temperature.
So I changed:
Plugs
HT Leads
Coil pack
Inlet air temp sensor
Non of these improved the...
Sounds like a plan.
I don't have anything that can access the ECU unfortunately, but from what you've experienced, it does point to the TB.
I may have a spare kicking around. If not, I'll find a good used one.
Thanks for bouncing ideas around....neon scratching my head over it most of this...
My car did similar a while back. Also had no fault codes so fired the parts cannon at it, which sorted it out.
Ideally would rather not do that again lol
The vid was after it'd been run up to temperature with the fan kicking in.
It's been in bits since September, and this was the first time it'd been fired up since bolting it all back together.
My initial thoughts were:
- throttle body playing up
- crank position sensor
- air leak somewhere
Had very similar issues a while ago and fired the parts cannon at it, changing the TB and crank position sensor.
Would any of these throw up a fault code? Just had a look and the check engine...
Would it not do this at idle then too?
Starts, runs and idles fine...it just hunts after a throttle blip before going back to normal.
The valve springs aren't extreme tbh, only moderately stiffer and the same height. I'm just trying to prevent valve float at higher rpm.
Hi all.
So I've had the top end off the engine to fit catcam valve springs and now the revs drop, surge a bit then go back to normal after giving the throttle a blip.
I've had this before a long while ago, and changed the crank position sensor and throttle body, which cured it, but the...
Yeah, once the gubbins are all off the engine, you realise it's actually really small.
I'll be following the build with Meg pistons with great interest!
Similar sketch with my 172 Turbo. After managing to clip all 8 of the inlet valves, I used the opportunity to change out the std valve springs for uprated CatCam springs.
Defo recommend an engine mount. They're not expensive and I've found it far easier to lift the engine out whole and strip it...
Cheers mate, appreciate the help.
I turbo converted my 172 3 years ago after a belt tensioner gave up and ended up bending valves.
I fitted new standard valves and springs at that point. Never had an issue until I managed to clip the valves recently.
Totally my own fault (too high revs from...
I'm replacing my standard (bent 🙄) valves with Wossner steel valves and Catcam valve springs.
You mention shimming to achieve correct fitted height.
How is this done?
I understand the need to keep the springs heights within tolerance, but as I've never had to do this before, I'm not sure of...
UPDATE
So I replaced both the stepper motors and a thd wiring and hey presto, I have.....most of it but not all 😕
- Fan control WORKS
- Blower position WORKS
- Hot/Cold mixer stepper motor NOT working 😣
The plastic ring was repaired, its the stepper motor not activating.
Any ideas?
And...
Ho All, hoping someone can help with this.
So I fixed the hot/cold control that had the standard crack in it, and prior to this, the fan was fine. Only issue was getting stuck on hot or cold.
Unplugged both servo motors, removed and zip tied the cracked hot/cold control ring. Promptly bolted...
So, I've not yet got my retro fitted cruise control to work.
All the bits are now there and fitted, including clutch and brake switch and it recognises CC on the dash but still won't allow me to set a speed for cruise control.
Any ideas!?
No, not touch that, but appreciate the heads up.on that.
I've checked every fuse and they're all good.
The heat stepper motor isn't doing anything now and the motor that sets the position of the blower is acting weirdly but not moving if you press another position button.
This has really got...
Unfortunately it's not that. It was all working fine before.
All I've done is remove the stepper motors, fixed the broken plastic, and reconnected it all back up. Now....Nada!
I've stripped it all back last night and can't see anything wrong anywhere, except that perhaps the new resistor pack...
Hi All,
Hope someone can shed some light on my current heater fan woes!
So my fan was stuck on hot, but everything else worked fine, so I knew it was split plastic in by the motor. Easy enough fix if a bit awkward.
So I removed the motors, fixed the split ring and reassembled through had a...
